hi blueboy and to all the filipino peeps here! I'd like to know what I can do for employers to hire me as an ALT. I actually completed the basic requirements from 4 year degree to int'l driver's license when I applied to some institution as an ALT. I also passed their English Proficiency Exam and ended up excellent. I was scheduled to be presented to BOE but a day before that, the representative from the company that I applied called me and told me that it was cancelled and that they were very sorry because they can't hire me at this time. The japanese lady told me that they can't assure me visa sponsorship and that they don't want my time nor their time to be wasted. The lady even praised me and told me that I almost passed every requirement. I just can't understand why they can't secure me a working visa when they are saying that I am qualified to be an ALT??? It's just irritating and at the same time depressing.. :(
could someone please help me think why????
Hello boitoi,
I moved this post from the thread "ALT Positions (especially for Filipinos!!) Check this out! (http://www.timog.com/forum/showthread.php?t=105 54)". Good luck! :)

Hello Boitoi!
If they don’t want to accept your application as an ALT, then try your luck in some language schools. The big four (Nova, Aeon, Geos and Berlitz) may have strict preference to native English speakers so go to the smaller ones. Anyway, same pay din naman.
I had the same experience in one of these 4 schools when I was in Tokyo.
Keep on applying Boitoi.
Good luck! :)

Sorry to hear that,:O but its not that bad. You got all the requirement, right? Try someone/something else.
You might have passed all the requirements, yet still I'm not sure if its OK to demands? Surely, for whatever reason, they got the final call.
Let it go, free your self and just keep trying. Good Luck next time!

What's the difference compared to the usual teacher? Madali kaya magapply?
I want to give something back to kids that my teachers taught me when I was in school.

So from 9-5 mon to fri you will repeat words and sentences given to you by the senior teacher. Pero sana you can interact with the kids. Isip bata kasi ako eh. Is this a full time job kahit may summer breaks may trabaho ka mapapasukan or medyo temp job lang talaga? Masgusto ko fulltime teacher pati summer pwede mag coach kaya lang baka you need an educ license na talaga. Dito kasi sa pinas hirap makapasok as teacher. You need an educ degree, license, and often times a masters degree.

Lahat ng schools may clubs you can join pag walang teacher na nag cocoach e pde kang magturo. Pero if you want to teach like really cute kids e sa elementary ka. Again it depends on the school that you are assigned to. There are some schools na di ka papayagan sumali sa sports kasi strict sila sa training (eto yung mga serioso magtraining). I hope this helps and good luck.

Salamat again. Ganun pala ang limitations ng ALT. I think if I cant join in the sports activity eh mag jogging na lang ako sa kalye. :D:D
Health is wealth and getting paid to teach is a plus.
