Dear TF members,

From now on, we will have to start strictly enforcing the Rules regarding posting in the forums. Please refer to the Timog Forum Forum Rules and Guidelines.

Posting Styles

FROM THE RULES AND GUIDELINES:

When posting messages, please make them as readable as possible. Please don't use text speak because it's hard to understand; try to spell words correctly. DON'T USE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS because you'll appear like you're shouting. Don't overly style your posts and make them hard on the eyes, like using jarring colors. Don't post a 5,000-letter essay with only one paragraph. Let's be responsible and think about our readers when posting messages.
That means no text speak, no capital letters in posts or titles, no overuse of punctuation, no inappropriate colors and font styles and sizes in posts. Please do not change the default settings for these without a valid reason to do so. ("Because I just want to" is not a valid reason.)

IDEAL POST:

Post Content

FROM THE RULES AND GUIDELINES:

Please don’t post something that is rude, inflammatory or insulting. Don’t post hoaxes, chain letters, fake virus warnings and trite inspirational messages. Don’t post something that you got in the mail that is full of email addresses and forward signs and side comments of people we don’t even know. If you got something from mailing lists that is worth posting on Timog Forum, then it is also worth editing to make it readable for everyone.

IDEAL POST:

Miraculous Prayer

This is a beautiful prayer. Please do not break
this chain. It is miraculous, ask for something,
anything just pray !!!

Remember her words: Am I not here,
and am I not your Mother?"

Beautiful Virgin of Guadalupe, I ask you on behalf
of all my brothers and sisters of the world that
you bless us and protect us. Give us proof of your
love and kindness. Oh pure Virgin of Guadalupe,
give me through your Son, forgiveness for my sins,
blessings for my job, cure for my diseases and needs,
and all that you deem necessary I ask for my family.
Oh Mother of God, do not disdain the pleas we present
to you in our needs. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters, I want to impart to you
the presence of the Virgin of Guadalupe... that she
is miraculous and is always with us wherever we go.

This letter has the objective of going around the
world so recipients could receive miracles with
this beautiful chain.

Please forward it to 19 people and share it during
the following 10 days. In return you will receive a
proof from the Virgin no matter how impossible it is.

If you receive it and share it before 10 days, you
will have a surprise and great joy!We will treat with utmost severity people who post chain letters, hoaxes, and trite inspirational messages in Timog Forum.

Hi Nick,

It is about time - thanks for this reminder.
I totally agree with the guidelines. I hope you be firm and strict about implementing these rules.

Keep up the good work with this Forum.

No text messages, thank God, because I do not understand that at all.
No offense to those who love texting, but I just cannot or do not want to read text messages because to me it is all "mispelled words" ....

I know that many people in the Philippines use it. Even my mother - oh my ! she sends me text- which I do not understand but try to get the meanings,
but, I always reply in full spelled words and I always use proper sentence structures. I keep telling my mom, text messages will make your English level go down.

:) specially in spelling...

Anyway, thank you so much Nick.

That means no text speak, no capital letters in posts or titles, no overuse of punctuation, no inappropriate colors and font styles and sizes in posts. Please do not change the default settings for these without a valid reason to do so. ("Because I just want to" is not a valid reason.)

And since we are at it, maybe we can add no posts entirely in lowercase (all small letters; not capitals) either because that's also difficult to read. If that's acceptable by all...that is.

To be is to do. (Sartre) To do is to be. (Descartes) Do be do be do.(Sinatra).)

Hey, this is funny. Is this signature unacceptable because of the color of text or because it's funny? Just wondering lang. Maybe the color of my signature is also unacceptable ba, Nick san?

Ooops! I guess I have too many "mohawks" in my signature:O Maybe I should change my signature completely...:( I'll work on it later...

I am happy to read this thread.
For I have been a little bit worried about the increasing use of text speak.

I think since the administrator had to write this, it must be difficult to insert warning or delete the font setting.

And I agree with Maruchan about the small letters.
(No offense to Mica, for at the time you posted it, you were not aware of it.
At least, you are using a capital letter in your name.
Mine is all small letters.:D )

Let me expound a bit on these rules:

One rough test we could use in our posts and signatures is: Does it stand out too much from the crowd? If it does, then it's probably inappropriate. (We live in Japan, by the way, and standing out from the crowd too much is not good.) If we really want to stand out from the crowd, we could do that with the quality of our posts and not our choice of font styles and colors.

Napakahusay naman ng panibagong 'updates'. I feel happy and guilty at same time:). From the replies of others, I can't agree more. One thing I would like to ask is about emoticons or smilies in TF. Napapansin niyo naman siguro na halos lahat ng post ko ay may nakasingit na ganyan. Ok lang ba gumamit ng mahigit lima or meron bang limit of use? I share the same reason as "Docomo's post in http://www.timog.com/forum/showthread.php?t=834&highlight=smilies
:type: very nice!.... i think smileys have some good points.. it helps enliven the discussion and enhance our sense of humor ....it serves as a tool to make your kausap smile or maybe sad as exactly as you want them to feel when reading your postings ..sometimes, you need to feel the person you are talking too ..."and " SMILEYS will help you do that... :bouncy: ang saya saya YEHEY!

Logged on to Timog after a week of silence ... just in time to read this reminder from Nick.
