There is no such thing as a working visa. There are categories though that allows work. If you are an engineer and got sponsorship, te process might take between two to three months. It starts from the COE (Certificate of Eligibility) to be filed by the sponsoring company to the Immigration Bureau in Japan (takes one to two months). Once this is approved - this certificate is sent to you and you submit it along with your visa application in the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines. You then wait for the visa in the Philippines.

A COE or a Visa does not guarantee entry to JAPAN though - the immigration officer at the port of entry makes that decision.

in my personal experience, it took almost a month only, but make sure that the company who will hire you has a full support in giving you the papers needed. kasi minsan maraming hinahanap sa POEA and embassy. goodluck! :)
