Ang tanong ko po ngayon is if there are scholarships other than the Monbukagakusho.
I'm sure meron; JAL Scholarships, Japan Foundation, and the list goes on.
Info about me (para magka-idea po kayo kung saan ako pedeng mag-apply):
Am 20 years old, and will be 21 this September
Will graduate this May 12, 2007 as a System Software Engineer
Counting from elementary, I have done 14 years of study (6 yrs elementary + 4 yrs high school + 4 yrs college)
Have basic knowledge of Japanese grammar and writing (I'm studying a 2-month Nihongo course in PIJLC, Makati Branch)
More inclined in designs, graphic/digital art, and the Japanese culture/language
My expected GPA is 3.3 where 4.0 is the highest
And because of that I will graduate with honorsI've read blogsites and testimonials ng ibang tao na nakapag-aral at naga-aral sa Japan ngayon.
May alam pa po ba kayong ibang scholarship other than the Monbukagakusho?

Hullo Meganekodomo! :)
You better make sure about your Monbusho exam or else you'll gonna be hard put finding other scholarships. I know many more private scholarships, but they're not gonna give it to you if your not enrolled in any one of Japanese colleges and universities or unless you are confirmed to enter a university. What do you think?
And there are very few companies that give their scholarships to students of technical schools (semmongakko), much less to students not living in Japan.
I am acquainted to many Chinese and Koreans who came to Japan to study Japanese language for 1 year at language schools here in Japan at their own expense! For about a year what they do is just work part-time and study, study, study. That is because they will try to enter Japanese universities. competing at par with all the Japanese high school graduating students. After or just before they successfully entered a university, then that's the time to find scholarships and most of them will receive them in various degrees.
I guess that's what you'll have to do in order to come to Japan as a second option.
I hope it will not come to that. ;)

Mula sa pagaayos ng visa, flight to Japan, finding a university, lodging, tuition, etc.
Medyo nakalimutan ko na kasi eh~ Pero I can self-study when I have time. I just need to find out what those math formulas are called, para ma-Google ko po sila~
aviationlady~san> Maraming salamat po! Arigatou gozaimashita!!

Thank you so much for your reply! I will look into the scholarships you've mentioned~ I searched again and re-viewed the scholarships I found:
JAL Foundation's scholarship application deadline has passed... awww. And it looks like a good "essay" topic too. There's no age limit there right? This is the one that looks the most promising in the future.
I haven't fully explored the Japan Foundation website, but I've found the Asian Youth Foundation scholarship as something I think I can apply to... But the deadline has (once again) passed. So maybe next year. Plus, it has a high age limit, unlike Monbusho's 21.
The Okazaki, however, seems as if it favors China for now. Unless I'm a Chinese citizen, I won't be able to apply. But I saw their schedule and it looks as if they accept Filipinos sometimes... (the website's in full kanji overdrive though)
Again, thank you so much for the reply. I really am glad to have stumbled on this forum for reference of my planned study in Japan (hopefully). AYF is the best alternative I can see from the Monbusho if ever I failed in the application.
I'll just have to do my best, hope for the best, and be the best. This is the greatest opportunity I have in this lifetime... Thank you for your help.
