asahi About 75 percent of Japan's Internet cafes provide shelter to regular overnight guests who are too poor to afford rent or cannot go home, a survey has revealed. Customers who apparently live at Internet cafes and manga kissa (comic book cafes), which provide Internet access, comic books, meals and sometimes showers at low cost, are dubbed "Net cafe refugees." According to the Japan Complex Cafe Association, there were about 2,740 Internet cafes and manga kissa nationwide as of 2005. Read more...
