mainichi The Kyoto Municipal Government announced Wednesday that it will submit an ordinance proposal to the municipal assembly to ban smoking on streets in parts of the city. The proposed ordinance is intended to protect people from harm such as being burned by cigarettes in areas frequented by many tourists. The city will designate areas where smoking is prohibited, and impose a fine of 2,000 yen or less on people who violate the ban. Read more...
