yahoo The number of foreign nationals registered for residency in Japan at the end of 2006 hit a record high for the 38th year in a row, totaling 2,084,900, the Justice Ministry said Tuesday. The figure includes mid- and long-term residents, including Koreans who form the largest group of about 598,000, or 28.7 percent of the total. Chinese were the second-largest group, accounting for 26.9 percent, followed by Brazilians at 15 percent and Filipinos at 9.3 percent, the bureau said. Read more...
