japantimes The Central Japan Railway Company (aka JR Tokai), which operates the 43-year-old Tokaido Shinkansen, is readying the introduction of its most advanced model yet. While the shinkansen network boasts an enviable safety record, alas, neither trains nor train stations have been free from lawless behavior. So perhaps we should not be surprised to learn that the new 16-car N700s will boast a total of 60 security cameras which can be monitored by staff while on board. Read more...
