I'm guessing that perhaps you mean 中途半端、chuuto hanpa?
it means doing things half-baked, or halfway.
sabihin na natin bitin, o hindi pulido ang trabaho.

微妙、bimyou is a word which has recently been widely used and a lot of Japanese tell me (even the ones who are good in English) it's really difficult to find one equivalent word in English for it. its meaning runs from something like "nuanced," "subtle," or "hard to pinpoint" to "sensitive" and "delicate."
siguro sa Tagalog, kung ginagamit natin yung "may pagka..." o di kaya, "mahirap masabi kung..."?

actually I was thinking of 自動販売機 jidouhanbaiki (vending machine) as well.
but alamagawa said they were often heard on TV... or was that line meant only for "bimyou?"
it's alamagawa's call.

if for example, the word really was "jidou hambaiki"...

if i were to turn back the clock 7 years ago (when i was still studying japanese), and heard "jidou hambaiki" on tv, i might also have the tendency to assume "jidou hamba" as one set, and "iki" another word.:D nung nangangapa pa ako, most of the time i really didn't know when one word starts, and when one word ends.

or, if the word really was "chuuto hampa"....

i might also mistake the "chuuto" for "jidou". i've also had quite a few mistakes like this before. and funny thing is, my sister who's visiting here right now, is a "living testament" how we can mishear some japanese words at times. she just asked me this morning, "what's the meaning of [nani kangaetong]". i really had to laugh. buti na lang, alam ko agad what the phrase was...."nani kangaete iru no", spoken in a slang way. :D

kung pronunciation ng first word eh elongated ang first syllable, most probably "chuuto" siya. if not, most probably "jidou".

pag "chuuto hampa" po yung word, yung explanation ni hanikami-san was very detailed na po. you can't get a more correct answer than that. makikita mo sa dictionary ang chuuto hampa, pero konti lang ang detalye. mas maliwanag kay hanikami-san.
