Dear Paul,
Know what,i read a le Carre novel when I was in High School, typically old style..Is the Night Manager a new novel?I saw a feature of him in the Newsweek or Time Magazine and he is coming out with a new novel..I found his novel interesting up to a certain point when I heve no other choices..he he biro lang but incidentally like the pacing of Ludlum,Follet better and now am a fan of Dan Brown ,etc...Why dont you try Crichton`s latest novelss..really interesting and relevant to nanotechonology now..
Cheers, Chameleon

This is the story of one of the greatest men who ever lived - Alexander the Great.
Madaling basahin, hindi nakakainip (for history fans), nakakatuwa din ang first person style, and most of all aside from buying the paper-back or the e-book versions, you can read it for free (http://www.watchmojo.com/events/history/alexander_the_great/intro_history_is_sub jective.htm)! :D

the first book, which was made into a movie, mah favorite movie...Fight Club by mah fave author Chuck Palahniuk. if you appreciate the movie, i definitely think you would also appreciate the book. one moment i feel like the unnamed narrator (played by edward norton), the other moment i feel like tyler durden (brad pitt in the movie). so far, i love Palahniuk's Invisible Monsters and Survivor. I would like to get copies of his other books.
the 2 books i've got are controversial. End of Faith by Sam Harris and The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. i'm not sure if these books are available in the philippines. got em as a gift from a friend.

Miro Kasai, the author, is taga-Keio Univ, and had lived in Manila for 10 years.

He is very upset with the ignorance or misunderstanding by the Japanese about things or people of the Philippines.
He knows a lot.

"GUIDE TO INVESTING"
..it's about,What the Rich Invest In,That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not!...
by:Robert T.Kiyosaki with Sharon L.Lechter= The authors of 'Rich Dad Poor Dad'
..I would like to share the author's final word;
The 90/10 Rule of Money
Most of us have heard of 80/20 rule.In other words,
80% of our success comes from 20% of our efforts.
Originated by the Italian economist Vifredo Pareto in 1897.
It is known as the principle of least effort.
Rich dad agreed with the 80/20 rule for overall success in all areas but money.
When it came to money,He believed in 90/10 rule.
Rich dad had noticed that 10% of the people had 90% of the money.
He pointed out that in the world of movies,10% of the actors made 90% of the money.
He also noticed that 10% of the athletes made 90%
of the money as did 10% of the musicians.
The same 90/10 rule applies to the world of investing,
which is why his advice to investors was "Don't Be Average".
this book was a valentine gift from my hubby...

hi VeeGee,
i usually choose the books i read basing on my mood, but sometimes i also choose books out of curiosity because of what i heard about it. i also read books related to issues i'm interested in. and, as for the required readings, i read them regardless of whether i enjoy it or not. :)

Dati I used to read policital books like 1984, The Forbidden Book, America's Empire in the Philippines etc. etc... nung nag-mature ako, gossip sites na binabasa ko like perezhilton, TMZ, etc. etc. :D
On a serious note, recommended ko yung last 2, truth rings on that book. nainis ako nung binasa ko yun, asar pa nga ako sa kano eh and the irony of it, kano napangasawa ko lolz

I am currently reading
Popper Selections (selected essays of Karl Popper edited by David Miller, non-fiction).

I recently finished reading
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (fiction, re-reading)
The Lord of the Flies by William Golding (fiction)
The First Human by Ann Gibbons (non-fiction)
Next on my list most probably will be The Varieties of Scientific Experience: A Personal View of the Search for God [amazon.com] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0143112627) by Carl Sagan (non-fiction).
