I've stumbled upon this while surfing another forum. It's from a humor site, so don't take it too seriously. I also find the other stuff on that list to be more disgusting than our balut, like the maggot ridden cheese and the baby mice wine. :D And the balut has the best ad of them all. :p

Behold, for our journey of horror reaches its destination. Balut are duck eggs that have been incubated until the fetus is all feathery and beaky, and then boiled alive. The bones give the eggs a uniquely crunchy texture.
They are enjoyed in Cambodia, Philippines and the fifth and seventh levels of hell. They are typically sold by street vendors at night, out of buckets of warm sand. You can spot the vendors because of their glowing red eyes, and the faint, otherworldly sound of children screaming.

... Because you're never going to look at an egg the same way. Tell yourself that every time you crack open an egg from now on you won't be half expecting a leathery wad of bird to come flopping out into the skillet.
Yes, balut is upsetting on about a half-dozen levels. Sure, all meat eaters know on some level that the delicious chop on your plate used to belong to something cute and fluffy, which gambolled in the sun during the brief spring of its life. Most of the time, it' perfectly possible not to give a shit. But, when you're biting into something that hasn't even had a chance to see its mother's face ... well, it's different.
Danger of this turning up in America:
Actually, marketed properly, these eggs could be a damn good motivator. When you've looked death in the face at breakfast time, what the hell else can the day throw at you?

Ako kumakain, pero sabaw lang at yung yolk. Ayaw ko ng sisiw na malaki, kapag maliit OK, just slurp it down. :D Pangpalakas ng tuhod...

I tried it once... not because gusto ko pero dahil may premyo tatay ko.. hindi ko naman kinain nasa loob lang ng mouth ko pinakita ko lang na sinubo ko :p :hihi:
tinitingnan ko pa lang nasusuka na ko :yuck:

Matigas masyado yung puti, pero kapag gutom pwede na rin. :D

I found humor in the article. To people who don't like balut, or hate it, it really would look disgusting. Hindi kumpleto pagkain ko ng balut without eating the sisiw as well. If not, penoy na lang kakainin ko, di ba? :D

nakabili ako a few months ago ng balut dun sa kainan malapit sa embassy (tokyo). medyo luma na pero pinagtyagaan ko pa rin..;)

yung filipino tabehodai malapit sa embassy. sa likod lang ng SUBWAY SANDWICH yun e. pero bihira lang silang meron.
pde yata yung dalhin from pinas... boiled egg naman yun.:D

ako lbuong balot kinakain ko. disgusting daw eh ang sarap2 nga. sabi nanay ko isa sa mga madalas nyang kainin nung ni ko conceive nya ko. hmmmm, kaya pala mukha akong sisiw. lalo na pag winter mukha akong basang sisiw. eeeewwww!!!!!!!
favorite ng mga anak ko Balot ,miss na nga daw nila eh.:D masyadong malaki na yun sisiw dyan sa picture . anyway pareho din ng lasa ke maliit or malaki yun sisiw.
meron nga palang nabibiling balot pero frozen at hilaw pa ikaw na maglalaga .sa Akabane bussan.
kaya lang ang balot mas masarap kainin sa pinas at alam mong bago at hindi frozen :)

Hensoldt san ~~~ hello ~~~ :) sad to say .. hindi rin ako kumakain ng balut ~~ yung yolk en sabaw lang ... wawa naman yung sisiw eh ~~~ :O hubby ko ... kakain yan ng bagoong ... huwag lang daw balut ~~~~ ahahaha ~~~~ kawaiso daw mashado :p

bilib ako sa mga taong kumakain at nakakakain ng balut....ako, ni minsan, hindi pa kase nakakain....and i feel i'm missing out on something...
well, gross na kung gross, for the writer. sometimes, we have to consider where the author comes from. he's looking at things from his own perspective. wala siguro sa lupalop nila ang ganitong klaseng pagkain. if that's the case, i'm sure he will have more things to write about interesting food if he goes to china...baka ma-demote pa nga ang balut. :D

nag try ako kumain 2 balot pero yong ikalawa na nagpapantig na tenga ko non parang hindi kona malunok..ewan koba bat ganon.
buti pa penoy ok lng kahit maka 3 pako.

yung ibang balot. niluluto nila 1 hour before mag hatch or 1 hour before lumabas ang sisiw sa egg shell..masarap at crunchy daw yung buto,kuko,tuka at skull ng sisiw. :eek:

ako ang gagawin ko babasagin ko yung shell tapos hihigupin ko ang sabaw.
then babalatan ko at ilalabas lahat.
kakainin ang dilaw at paglalaruan ang sisiw.
ilalatag ko sa platito ang sisiw at kunyari alaga ko daw.
tapos ipapakain ko sa aso :D
