TOKYO (Reuters) - Thousands of foreign teachers have been made jobless and face expulsion from Japan after the country's biggest chain of English language schools folded and sought protection from creditors.
Nova Corp said on Friday that it has filed for court protection from creditors amid efforts to turn its business around after being punished by authorities for misleading students.
Nova has some 7,000 employees, of whom about 4,000 are foreigners, Japanese media estimated. Many have not been paid for months as the company struggled to keep afloat. Read more (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071027/wl_nm/japan_nova_dc)

they are now looking for sponsors to keep the company afloat. which is hard to come by, now that everybody knows how poorly the company was managed. (a little ironic.)

iba talaga pinoy ano...pang-international appeal talaga. :D

Here's the truth about NOVA (NO VAlue) daw ~~ Link (http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Academy/6455/index.html)
What others say about NOVA ~~ Link (http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Academy/6455/others.html)
TV CM pa lang ng Nova saying "i ruv you" , I was like ~ kawawa naman tong mga hapon, damasareta ng mga white- blue-eyed/contact-lensed- blonde/dyed native english speakers daw na karamihan ay walang degree, some lack the training to teach and the simplest basic vocabulary know-how, much less... spell. Most come here on a 3-mo visa, then fly to Korea for 1 or couple of days before the visa expires then come back and voila, balik sa pambobola na naman ng mga hapon :japanese: geezz

^that's what happens when they try to make the subject easier than it is and palatable to the clients. localization kumbaga. madali na nga i-pronounce, pero magsa-suffer naman quality ng English ability ng estudyante. but anyway, i think this isn't an isolated case, not a case unique to Japan. made me wonder how it is in other non-English speaking countries as well.
