Indonesia Hosts Asian Idol (http://idolfanatic2005.blog spot.com/2007/10/indonesia-hosts-asian-idol.html)

RCTI will first promote the competition among the winners of Indonesian Idol to choose the country's representative to Asian Idol, which Indonesia will host. Featuring the best Idols the Asian region, Indonesia will compete with Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, and India.

Daniel Hartono, Project Director of Asian Idol for RCTI, explained that this competition will begin around mid-December. "We are really happy that finally our wish to spread out Asian Idol has fulfilled," he said in a press conference for MNC Group in Jakarta yesterday.

Hartono explained that to determine the Indonesian representative, their group will produce a selection process among four Indonesian Idol winners, namely Delon, Mike, Ihsan, and Rini. The four champions will battle it out in a "Choose Your Idol" special, which will be shown live by RCTI.

"This selection special among the four Idols will be held in Kemayoran this coming November 24," according to Asian Idol's public relations chief Hafni S. Damayanti during a phone interview with Republika in Jakarta.

Damayanti disclosed that the results of the Choose Your Idol program will be revealed a week after the competition or coincided on December 1, 2007. He added that he hoped this special selection process would eventually result in choosing the best representative for Indonesia.

The voting process, according to Damayanti, would be the same as how it was done in choosing Indonesian Idol as shown in RCTI. "We will continue to ask the viewers to vote for their favorite on live broadcast," he explained.

Before Asian Idol starts, continued Damayanti, they will have a series of special programs called "Asian Idol Extra." This will be shown in RCTI everyday for half an hour from 4:30pm WIB from November 26 to December 16, 2007.

On December 8, Asian Idol contestants from six participating countries will be introduced through an Idol Showcase presentation. "This serves as kind of a warm-up among the contestants," explained Damayanti. "They will introduce themselves and at the same time choose their own songs."

Meanwhile, Rini, the winner of Indonesian Idol 2007, said that she felt really happy with the attendance of the spectacular Choose Your Idol presentation. She hoped that she would become the representative for Indonesia. "I do wish to become the Indonesian representative, and I really hope the people would make my wish come true," she said to Republika just recently.

Damayanti continued that the Asian Idol license still belongs to Fremantle. Whereas for RCTI, the success of Asian Idol in terms of viewership will add a special value in seizing the hearts of every Indonesian TV viewer.

Remember that Indonesian Idol was the country's leading variety show for the last three years until it was sidelined by Mama Mia that was shown in rival network Indosiar.

However, with the coming Asian Idol, the prestige of this program will increase and RCTI hopes that it will lead the ratings among other TV programs.

With the Idol phemonon spawning series in 30 different countries, it was only a matter of time before another international Idol took place. And next month it does in the form og Asian Idol – with a little help from the Australian Idol team.

Similar to the World Idol show that ran a few years ago, Asian Idol will see six Asian countries – Singapore, Phillipines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and India – face off to see who will be named best of the best.

Over five weeks viewers in each country will be able to help chose the song they want their Idol to perform, before they eventually make their way to the Asian Idol performance show. There, each performer will sing two songs – one in English and one in their native language – and will face a panel of six judges.

Unlike World Idol, in which viewers were unable to vote for the contestant from their home country, a new, still top-secret voting system will allow performers to receive votes from their homeland.

Australian Idol produced Sandra Fulloon, who has been with the show since the start, is heading over to work as supervising producer for the new series.

"The finale will be held in a 10,000 seat stadium and apparently it will be watched by 250 million people," explains Sandra. "So it's quite a big thing!"

Having produced so many specatular Australian Idol finales, a group of the Aussie team will follow Sandra to help produce the finale.

"They're bringing the core unit from Australian Idol, our expert technical crew, over for the final week to help put the show togther," Sandra says.

Mau will give a different touch on 'REACH', this is definitely good a

Don't vote for the weak link!

As the Performance Night of Asian Idol draws near, a lot of discussions surface in fansites, forums, and blogs about “strategizing” their votes in order for their home bet to win, especially that viewers are required to vote for two candidates.
One suggestion appeared in many sites is to vote for their Idol and then followed by whom they perceive as a weak contestant. This I personally DO NOT approve and recommend.
For one, no one can be considered as a weak link, as each contestant has his or her own strengths and they will play on these advantages during competition. Hey, they do not represent their respective countries if they are “weak”, right?
Besides, if ever a so-called “weaker vote” would catapult that candidate to win the competition, this would leave us complaining about the results in many years to come.
So what’s the best strategy if you ask me? Vote for your own Idol and then followed by a contestant whom you perceive as the second best during competition. So, even if our own Idol would not win and the “second best” does, at least we can say that he or she deserves it.
Remember, your second vote is more crucial. It could even decide who will win the first Asian Idol.

yup, talent-wise. angat talaga ang pinoy sa larangan ng musika. but then, the result will be based on 50% judges' verdicts and 50% text votes (from all participating countries).

Tapos nang makunan ang Performance Night ng Asian Idol sa Indonesia noong isang araw (kaya hindi via satellite ang mapapanood sa ABC 5 sa Sabado ng ala-8 ng gabi. Hehe). it seems that asians still go for the looks over talent... no wonder were not able to penetrate the big scene (hollywood). i just hope, asian idol show will make people all over the world notice the asian talents.

They all have great singing voices. Mau is really magaling in her own right pero let's admit the fact na merong mas magaling pa sa kaniya.

Tetchie Agbayani (a Filipina who made it to the centerfold of Playboy) was the first Asian yata who made it to Hollywood, not sure though. There are also a lot of them half-Filipinos who are making it big in Hollywood. Nowadays, it's not about faces anymore. You have to have the talent and the "it" factor to make it big anywhere. :D

yup, all of them are great talents adn besides they are idols in their rights(country). to be honest with you, i am not satisfied with mau's performance in the recently concluded asian idol ( i believe she can do better than that) but then the winner's performance is not that impressive as well. my personal favorites based on the asian idol performances are jac(malaysia), mike(indonesia) and mau(philippines). anyone of them is a better choice than the proclaimed winner. just my perspective.

The win was the most unexpected thing ever. I expected Mike or Mau to win . I mean even the winner was shocked ...but he can sing , he has the looks and commercial value = the whole package ...he does deserved it. :)

sorry, mod doc. i don't agree on that packaging thing in singing contest like this. if it so, why indonesia chose mike among their idol winners to represent their country? do fantasia of american idol has the looks and commercial value, the whole package? winner should have a great singing ability and not just someone who could sing.

anyway, hady has already been proclaimed winner. and i am just a bit sour-graping.:p i just hope that next time people would think otherwise. because i'd rather listen to the music than watch the music.

If revolving news is right (yet to be confirmed) that there are three Pinoy bloods in the current American Idol show. They are, of course, Ramiele Malubay, Danny Noriega and David Archuleta. There are lots of blogs in the net which claim that David Archuleta was half or a quarter filipino. I also got some news that QTV-11 in the Philippines (airing American Idol) claims that David Archuleta was a Filipino-American. Other than that, it was still uncertain though i got through a latino site which claims that David Archuleta was a Latino but put "un filipino.." in open and close parenthesis. nevertheless...Go Pinoy! invade the "Idol" shows...

I like her, she's cute, she's got appeal, and she's got a very nice clear smooth stylish voice, there is some quality in the timbre/tone, parang professional but...
why is she singing epic boring-not-so-challenging songs?

Bagay sa kanya siguro mga kanta ni Christina Aguilera i.e. "Hurt (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD2yNcoWWoI&feature=related)" or "Reflection" and the likes... yung songs na puedeng maka-relate sa voting public esp mahihilig mag text... sayang kasi ang talent nya...

regarding sa song selection, finalists have to pick songs from the show's list on a particular theme for that week. they can change their choice as many times as they want at least not until the performance show.

sa philippine/pinoy idol...very particular talaga sa lyrics (knowing the filipinos:D). sa american idol hindi naman, basta huwag mo lang ipapahalata sa mukha mo na mali ang lyrics...see amanda overmyers(almost the entire song wala kang maintindihan) and david archuleta's videos. ;)

her "alone" perfromance is still not at par with other finalists. the notes were everywhere, though she is sick, it's not an excuse...but she should be thankful because simon didn't dump her this time around. i agree with randy's comment though. and as much i don't want to be bias about her, she'll get thru the next round. that is my fearless forecast.

I like the song, medyo maikli nga lang. Her voice is nice, the range, husky and sexy but she has difficulty belting it out. The quality of her singing voice right now and the songs she chose ay medyo pang-album or pang show guesting stints na, lacking the power na pang-contest...

She's cute, pretty, and sweet, but seriously needs someone to check her fashion sense...wish she could wear something that would enhance her beauty...

GMA 7's Pinoy Idol had its pilot telecast last Saturday, April 5 which showed the Davao and Cagayan de Oro's auditions held early this year. GMA 7 dubbed their recent acquisition as the first though technically, its not. 2006 when ABC 5 acquired "idol" franchise from Fremantle Media, same company where GMA 7 got it.

nevertheless, this would still create excitement and thrill as it has a global appeal.

Wyngard Tracy(?), Ogie Alcasid and Jolina Magdangal completed the Pinoy Idol judges, with Raymond Gutierrez as host. (personally, i prefer DJ Mo as either one of the judges or the host).

i am quite ambivalent with the judges' decision of their top 24...

hindi mawala sa isip ko yung isa (beverly ejercito). walang lumabas na boses sa duet(top 90) tapos nakalimutan pa yung lyrics during her performance(top 45). yet she make it to the top 24( i just wonder if being an "ejercito" has something to do with it) but i must admit maganda ang timbre ng boses nya. performance-wise, wala talaga.

my personal views...

sue ellen was a big disappointment for me, she forgot some lines of the song...i am sure a lot of pinoys would notice that.:( 'til now, i have seen nothing but mediocre performances...maybe because they focus so much on how they look on stage or on screen that they taken for granted their singing ability...judges always emphasize it ( the looks or total package) but for pete's sake, pinoy idol is a singing sensation search and not an "artista" search.

last friday and last night the girls(top 7) and boys (top 7) perform respectively. tonight will be the elimination of two aspirants via text votes(lowest).

i had no video to share because i felt that there is no extraordinary performance had been showed.

instead, i would like to share with you someone that got my attention and gave me a goosebump from its rival show, Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2.

Pinoy Idol

As usual, wala pa rin akong nakitang spectacular performance. Though there are some good performances but it doesn't move me. Parang nanood/nakinig lang ako sa isang variety show na may pinakantang mga guests(artistang gustong kumanta). If you happen to switch channel and you saw it, you wouldn't say it's a contest. I think, the first Philippine Idol franchise was way better than this Pinoy Idol in terms of contestants' "quality". Vocally, Kid Camaya was okay.

pahabol...why they limit the contestants to sing in 1 minute? Just wondering kung si jolina kaya yung pinakanta in 1 minute(ang taray kasi nya nung nagreason out yung isang contestant of that 1-minute limit in singing).

kaya siguro walang lumabas na impressive.(for me)

Well, i must admit that i am not a big fan of PDA but at least some of their scholars caught my attention this 2nd season and based on their first gala performance, it is at par with Pinoy Idol. Their first Star Scholar of the Week, Liezel Garcia really sang well, hindi "pilit".

I really thought he is one of the best contenders in Pinoy Idol though i don't like his performance here, there are some flat notes. I think his style doesn't fit with the song well.

Over-all, I think he is the latest casualty of text voting scheme in a "talent show". Even the worst performance (of all worst performances) of a finalist can still win as long as he garnered enough text votes.:(

If you could see what the other probationary's performance( i didn't attach because it's not worth watching for), hers was way way better. The good thing, the other probationary had just dropped-out as scholar.

I haven't feed my personal assessment on their performances last night. And based on my note: Toffer - "rocker na pilit ginawang pop ang umpisa tapos hindi nasustain (nagwala na ang boses as the song progresses)".But he is not the worst performer last night...it was Gretchen. But it is a battle of text voting no matter what a performance a performer shows. Nevertheless, Toffer is not worthy to be a Pinoy Idol.

i also like the voice of Bugoy that's why i posted na rin PDA here in this thread because i am kinda impress in him just like you. it's different from the rest...pang Pinoy Idol nga eh at magandang ipanlaban sa international arena.

Pinoy Idol? TOP 7 will perfrom next week. Sa pitong natitira, 2 lang ang medyo pasado sa panlasa ko though walang identity yung boses nila...kaya medyo wala na akong gana sa Pinoy Idol but for the sake of sharing it...I'd still watch it. Sa PDA naman tatlo yung talagang magaling...Watch out for Liezel, Bugoy and Laarni...

Hayaan mo next time, pag may nakita akong magandang video sa youttube post ko dito (bihira na kasi ang nag-uupload ng videos sa youtube).

I will give you an update once i got more infos on who going to fight for the pinoy idol title. but as the show progresses, no spectacular performance has yet been shown. hoping that i will see a spectacular performance in the finale. something that will give me a goosebump.;)

After this pinoy idol finale, i might focus on pda talents.:p

there is a big chances that the result on sunday maybe influenced by "politics" since it applies text-voting scheme. the one who has the best campaign strategy and has a lot of money to spend, could win.

"idol" had been a prestigious singing contest but in the Philippine(GMA-7) setting the show becomes a so-so idol.

"fiesta" atmosphere on the show...world-class??no-no...

Pinoy Idol was well represented. Finalists were from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.(Stop the regional mind-set):p

Finalists were only given limited time to sing their song...i can't feel what hey had sang. As usual, no one shines that night. It's like watching an amateur singing contest in a fiesta. (but i'd rather watch amateur singing contest...isang buo ang kinakanta).

I can't help but compare Philippine Idol of ABC-5 and Pinoy Idol of GMA-7.
Philippine Idol's finale was miles better than Pinoy Idol's finale. I hope na ibalik na lang sa ABC-5 ang franchise...doon kasi inalagaan ng husto yung franchise unlike sa GMA-7 tinipid sa timeslot and venue(Philippine Idol's finale was in ARANETA COLISEUM).

Nagmukhang manequin:jiggy: yung tatlong finalists during their song number with Regine Velasquez (nakita lalo yung weaknesses ng tatlo:yikes:). watch this...
