The 33rd JALT International Conference English Language Education at Secondary Schools in Japan: Today and into the future
An action plan to cultivate "Japanese with English Abilities" was implemented by the Ministry of Education,Culture and Sports,Science and Technology (MEXT) in 2003. The SELHi (Super English Language Highschool) project has been one of the objectives of the plan and various activities and trials have been made. The panelists will review the results of the SELHi project,share their insights on a new English curriculum emphasizing on communication,and suggest steps to be taken in the future. The panel will consists of a specialist from MEXT, a JACET representative,membe rs of the MEXT Planning and Evaluation Committee of SELHi, a SELHi teacher from Hiroshima,and a representative from JALT's Junior and senior Highschool SIG. Anyone who is interested in English Language education at secondary schools in Japan is welcome to attend.
