These are some of the local Filipino songs I have heard and know of. There must be more, I'm sure and not just by major artists.

* Southern All Stars' "Manatsu no Kajitsu" = Donna Cruz's "Isang Tanong, Isang Sagot"
* Takeuchi Mariya's "Single Again" = Rodel Naval's "Lumayo Ka Man"
* Anzen Chitai's "Hohoemi ni Kanpai" = Rodel Naval's "Kailan Kaya"
* Utada Hikaru's "First Love" = Jessa Zaragosa's "First Love" English version (but I remember hearing a Tagalog version as well)
* Itsuwa Mayumi's "Koibito yo" = Sharon Cuneta's "Itanggi Mo"
* TUBE's "Remember Me" = Renz Verano's "Remember Me"
* Imai Miki's "Piece of My Wish" = Manilyn Reynes' "Nandito Pa Rin Ako"
* Nagabuchi Tsuyoshi's "Kanpai" = April Boy's "Sana'y Laging Makapiling"
* Teresa Teng's "Kuukou" = Imelda Papin's "Aalis Na Ako"
* Takeuchi Mariya's "Uchi ni Kaerou (My Sweet Home)" = Regine Velasquez's "My Sweet Home"

I don't think it's bad that some artists are covering Japanese songs, but it would be better if they acknowledged that it was originally Japanese (and sung by another artist:p)

I was appalled at how some would claim the songs to be their original creations. April Boy Regino was one bad example and when an entertainment writer-friend of mine confronted him, he relented that he actually picked up some of the songs he heard when he was playing in Japan but that the lyrics were all his own (naku, obvious ba? di na sya nahiya, andaming Pinoy sa Japan ang may alam ng mga kanta tulad ng "Kanpai":rolleyes:...)

I wonder if there will be other Filipino songs rendered in Japanese.
the only example I can think of is Freddie Aguilar's "Anak" which became "Musuko," one version sung by Kato Tokiko and another by Sugita Jiro.

by the way, a little OT but there was an attempt to have a Japanese "singing group" debut in the Philippines way back in 1996, a project of Utchan and Nanchan's NTV show "Utchan Uriuri! Nanchan Narinari!"

the group was called McKee with Muroi Shigeru, Kokushou Sayuri and Takayama Rie. they even performed at SM Megamall along with the Pocket Biscuits group (before Pokebi made it to the top of the Japanese charts) of Chiaki, Udo Suzuki (of the comedy duo Kyaiin) and Utchan himself, Uchimura Teruyoshi. sayang lang, di sila pumatok sa mga Pinoy...

Miss You was sung by Imai Miki.

naku, legal ba yung pagkopya nila ng kanta?
ba't parang wala na yatang originality ang mga Pinoy singers?

MISS YOU din....UNG kumanta ng piece of my wish ata kumanta nun...
