Inquirer ,MANILA, Philippines -- This month two internationally renowned peace advocates will be in Manila to join one of the largest peace festivals ever organized.

Martin Luther King III and Hyun Jin Moon are scheduled to address participants of the Philippine leg of the Global Peace Festival 2007 slated for December 12, at the Quirino Grandstand of Rizal Park in Manila. Organizers said 250,000 will attend the festival.

Global Peace Festival Manila Opens with Massive Coastal Cleanup

The Manila Global Peace Festival got underway today with a massive community service project involving more than 10,000 volunteers from 39 schools and universities and over 100 community groups.

A joint project with the Mayor Alfredo Lim's office and the city of Manila, the cleanup targeted the badly polluted coastline of Manila Bay. Organizers said that the volunteers had already removed several tons of trash and committed to doing much more in the weeks and months ahead.

Human rights advocate Martin Luther King III, son of world renowned civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., will lead more than 200,000 Filipino students, teachers, members of academe and civil society, as well as high-ranking government officials tomorrow in the launching of the “Global Peace Festival” in the country.

President Arroyo and Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. are expected to grace the one-day event with the theme, “One Family Under God,” at the Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park in Manila.

I can't help to make a comment in such a subtle show of arrogance. Neither to oppose nor decline, what was declared publicly as my desire. What I fear and pity is the burden of probable later regret, and the irreparable strike it has done to others heart. Then we fear debate, afraid to stand for what we've done?

I was saddened to see, that even just by simple observation to this thread, shall divulge total ignorance to the topic. More so, to the idea expressed that was not even part of discussion per se.
What are now being presented were simply report of what had transpired on Dec 12,2007.

How can we relate, when we lack even the slightest idea of the other group teachings. If what we had were bunch of accusations or opposition to the group, which was only tought to us.

Studying the activities, its a call, to all peace loving people to participate. Everyone is an individual owner to its share. Unlike other groups, it does not require converts.

As God, after human fall, declare to Adam and Eve that they would fertile the soil , sow and reap the food that they shall eat.

Jesus said to carry your own cross and follow him along the way.

I learned from this group that they don't expect heaven to fall from the sky. Further, to built it with their own very hands, by sowing sweat for earth ,tears for men and even blood for heavens. Something I strongly believe difficult for others, who expect heaven to be like magic or be handed down to thier hands as gift.



Before I made this post, I verified who were the real people claiming to had worked and organized the GPF project. Funny to say that its not even the organization being attacked here. They only assisted as inspiration and adviser to the objective. I'm also wondering if Martin Luther III, the religious leaders, top politicians, top businessmen, different agencies, personalities, etc. were part of such open opposition shared in this forum. Is there really a motive to do so.

Another puzzle was, if the accused group made and funded such activities. What can they gain by throwing away such huge resource? What can they get from Manila, or Philippines if people become responsible, peaceful and united?
