Philippines wooing Japan's aged with skilled, low-cost care
By ERIKO YAMAWAKI

MANILA (Kyodo) In a spacious room at the Rose Princes Home, a nursing facility on the outskirts of Manila, a caregiver feeds an 81-year-old partially paralyzed Japanese man.

The man moved to the Philippines five years ago, after his wife died. Beside his bed are a Buddhist altar and mementos of his wife. After becoming a resident at the facility, the man suffered a stroke that left him unable to speak. He has been taken care of by the nursing home staff ever since.

Sana instead of just retirees' haven, we strive to become a tourist destination, bakit naman ang Thailand nagawa nila, baka mas kaya natin coz we're surrounded by seas and 7100 islands.:)

Eto pa: Pension yen goes long way in Philippines (http://www.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/getarticle.pl5?nn200 51228f3.htm). :)

Kami din siguro. My husband and I have been toying this idea of moving to the Philippines when he retires.:)

im thinking how desperate the country seems with this kind of policy. we're enticing the ageing japs to retire and spend their yen in the phils so we can provide employment to caregivers and other health professionals, when we can't even attend to our kababayans dying of preventable diseases.

SALAMAT sa mga nagbigay ng kanilang replies! Happy New Year to all!

@Mcgregor

YMCA asked me to help them in their Phillippine Trip Youth Program.

Mayroon ding YMCA center for battered people in Japan (naisulat ko ito sa ibang thread).

Have a blessed & peaceful New Year, kabayan! :yippee:
