Hello Camille. I've studied in TUJ but I only took an English teaching certification course. Since it's an American based University, I decided to enroll in TUJ rather than in an online school.

I can honestly say that it wasn't worth the bang for my buck. I didn't get the value for my money. :(

At first, I was really eager to go there to learn teaching methods to spice up my lessons. Most of my classmates were Japanese teachers who were teaching English in elementary and highschool. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it just felt like they went there to improve their English rather than learn new methods. I did pick up a thing or two but to be honest, I don't think my 70,000Y was worth their once a once week 12 session course.

I can't say the same if you're planning to take up something else like an MBA perhaps but it's something to ponder about.

What are you planning to take up by the way?

hello, camille! kung ESL teaching techniques, methods, and approaches ang gusto mong malaman, you may want to try the CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Speakers of Other Languages) course at the British Council. actually, hindi masyadong comprehensive itong course na ito but you will have a good overview of what ESL/EFL teaching is really all about, and you will learn several teaching techniques that are quite useful. medyo mahal nga lang. i think the fee is somewhere around 300,000-350,000yen.

you may want to visit this website for further info: http://www.cambridgeesol.or g/home/teacher.html

Hi, if you plan to enroll at TUJ, I assume, Continuing Studies, they will evaluate your English proficiency prior to taking the course/s. You need to take the test (free) to determine your English level. That would be the deciding factor what level of English course to take, so you need not start from scratch.

If only for certificates, it is worth it. You can add those certificates to your resume for use in the future. TUJ is kind of popular. Did you know that the Director is a Filipina?

There are other schools, i.e. YMCA, I had former classmates who were English teachers there...you can also inquire at Sophia Uni maybe they are offering English courses
