What do you think about that?
Do you think that helped him win his historical fight?
Is there a Pinoy trainer capable of taking a Pinoy fighter to a world championship?

Maybe there is!? hindi lang siguro natin kilala. in the world of boxing, the boxer gets the attention not the trainer. Sumikat si Tyson pero hindi ko nakilala si Roach as Tyson's trainer.
Nakilala ko lang sya noong hinawakan na nya si PAC-MAN.

Anyway, before Pacquiao's international fights, he was handled by a pinoy trainer. If not for the training done by his trainer on Pacquiao, maybe our hero may not be noticed by american promoters. Wacha think?

But then, I still salute Pacquaio for a job well done! Hoooraaaay!!!

Para sa akin ke Pilipino o hindi ang trainer ni Pacquiao as long na nanalo siya... well and good.. i think depende rin kasi sa boxer ito eh.. kahit magaling yung trainer me diprensiya naman sa boxer.. so it depends.. pero mas maganda talaga kung mahusay ang trainer mahusay din ang boxer.

As for the Pinoy trainer capability... wala pa akong narinig eh.. siguro meron nga... but they have not given the opportunity or chance..alam mo naman sa Pinas.. pati sports ginagawang pulitika...kagaya ng nangyari sa last Asian Games.

i think walang masyadong effect kung si roach man ang trainer nya..Pacquiao had many great fights at marami nang pinahanga even nung amateur pa lang sya at nagsimulang lumaban sa "Blow by Blow", kung saan maraming expert sa boxing na nagsabi na magiging Champion si Pacquiao balang araw...

Can you explain why he replaced the person from last March and how the results are much different?

There are Filipino boxing trainers working here in Japan....training Japanese boxers.

IMHO, the relationship between the trainer and the boxer is crucial in winning a championship match. Without a good trainer, a boxer has to be really good and disciplined to be a champion. A good trainer can see the weak points of the boxer and help the boxer make up for those weak points.

did roach replaced himself ????:eek::eek::eek:

first take a look at Pacquiao's History of Fights...
http://boxing.about.com/od/records/a/pacquiao.htm

His lost last march 2005...is it related to his Former trainer??? or other Roach?
http://www.ringsidereport.c om/Galarpe4182005.htm

Even in year 2004 , Roach was with Pacquiao..
http://mindanews.com/2004/11/24spt-pacquiao.html

in my own opinion...Pacquiao achieved many great things related to boxing because of his skill...he was already a CHAMPION (as early as 1998) even before Roach became his trainer

regarding your question..is there a Filipino Trainer that can take a Pinoy Fighter to a world championship?

My answer : Look for a very Familiar Name > Gabriel "Flash" Elorde and find out who was his TRAINER...

Profound apologies...
you're right.
Would replacing 'trainer' with 'manager' be a more correct question?
Appreciate the correction, and salamat sa links.

A good trainer is very important. A "so-so" trainer will get you there, a "good" trainer will make you win great fights.

Philippine boxing needs trainers like Roach. I'm not saying that Pinoy trainers aren't as good as him, but he can help educate and improve the skills of our trainers here.

There is much difference between the old Manny Pacquiao (with former trainers) and the new Manny Pacquiao (Roach trained). Manny is very lucky that he has pound for pound punching power. Without that power, he is just a below average fighter. With Roach around, he has added good footwork, combinations and "good conditioning" to his arsenal. Look at him now. He is on his way to the Hall of Fame.

He has a Pinoy as his Chief Second.

I think being with Roach has done wonders for Pacman. Roach is one of the best, if not the best in the business. If I am to choose, I would want to be trained by the best!
