I just want to know what you guys think about the most recent religious tragedies. One of which is what happened during the "Pista ng Nazareno" where lives were taken (and several hurt) during a horrible stampede just to get a glimpse of or touch the statue. The more recent one is the during the St. Nino festival in Leyte where most of the lives lost were children when the boat capsized during the ritualistic rights of the fiest.

What's unfortunate is those who risk their health and lives to get a chance to be blessed are those who feel really need it -- the poor. Why? Because they're the forgotten and those who have no one else to turn to. They lift their lives to God and hope that they'll be blessed with just one iota of what's been given to the rich.

Can anyone please explain to me what drives these people to keep doing this every year? They already suffer enough as the lowest denomination in the country, why do they feel they have to sacrifice their already comprised lives for a "blessing"?

Is it all blind faith?

Hi Pink, How you been?

With regards to that post, all I can say is that they probably feel the need to rely on an entity higher than themselves to have something to cling on during desperate times. But they don't realize that they themselves are their best hope to climb out of the predicament they are stuck into. A little faith is good, but not too much that it'll cloud our judgement.

No offense meant. It's just me thinking loudly. :)
