since I posted this thread so I and everyone else can ask questions abt the scholarship, let me ask the first question...:D
Does the exam include Japanese? So we are required to learn Japanese? And are they just test to "measure" your skills in Nippongo or are they included in the over-all test results/scores needed to pass the exams? thanks a lot...^^

hullo alexxie!
welcome to timog! no it's not a requirement, they are as you've said just to measure your skills in Japanese language. Although having this skill is generally seen as an advantage since it shows your interest in Japan and the Japanese culture, and that you are not only interested in getting the scholarship. If i am a Japanese and one of the Monbukagakusho examinee evaluator, ceteris paribus, i will most likely have a better impression to those who gave an effort learning my own language than to those who knows nothing about the language I speak. Also, i will be more confident that a student who knows about the language will have better experience living in Japan more than others.
Alas, ceteris non paribus, therefore you should give your best in your other examinations. Do that, and you'll be fine. http://www.timog.com/gallery/files/7/icon_wink.gif

hello there.
i got recommended for the monbukagakusho scholarship (undergraduate) for 2009. i plan to take physics in japan. the problem is that i have Z E R O knowledge of japanese language. in your opinion, what are the chances that im gonna win this scholarship? will my Z E R O knowledge in japanese language affect my being chosen as final selection?
salamat in advance.
