Give Assistance Directly to the Poor and not through WOWOWEE

I have just read the newspaper about the recent ULTRA stampede for the Wowowee show, that it is better to give help DIRECTLY to the poor and not with the use of game shows, according to Archbishop Gaudencio Rosales. Any comments on this?
