Hello:D

hi sis..

tapos nung nag 4 or 5 months ata nagtake na

Yup, ob-gyne's here don't give prescriptions for prenatal vitamins, but would give you the go-signal to do so. I went to a local drugstore, told the pharmacist I'm preggy and he recommended "Folic acid 400" by ITOH. Taking the recommended daily intake gives you 400 mcg of folic acid, 6mg of iron and 200 mg of calcium. Folic acid id very important particularly during the first trimester of pregnancy coz it prevents birth defects such as spina bifida and anencephaly. Easy to drink because it's in small tablet form.

Dietary sources of folic acid include citrus fruits and juices ( I use this as reason to justify buying Y100 mangoes ;)), green leafy vegetables (horenso, etc), beans, nuts, asparagus, grains...ano pa ba? Pero ang hirap pa ring kumain esp when one's in the lihi-period.

If you can ask someone from the Philippines to send you some, my obgyne friend suggested "... I recommend HEMOBION( Ferrous fumarate 360 mg, cyanocobalamin 15mcg, Vit D 400iu, folic acid 1500mcg, calcium 200mg, vit C 75mg). This is the prenatal vitamins I give my patients because it is already complete. It comes in a capsule form and it is not irritating to the stomach. Because the ferrous form is not sulfate but fumarate it has the highest elemental Iron (118.8 mg) available for absorption. This is what I give for the whole duration of the pregnancy."

Happy Mom's Day everyone!

HI TO ALL PREGNANT WOMEN! Not all medicines or supplements that are effective for others may be good for you coz' without you knowing it, it could be detrimental to your and your baby's health.

It is still advisable to consult your OB-GYNE on what vitamins or supplements you must try first and be sensitive with your family medical history too. Normally, your OB-GYNE should be asking you about your family's medical history such as heart ailments, diabetes, even allergies in certain medicines. There might be substances which pregnant mom should avoid taking so as to assure the security of the baby in her womb, and for her own safety too.

Yes it's true that you need enough iron and calcium to supply the baby's needs, but most of all, your needs. So I suggest, if your OB-GYNE in Japan may not prescribe you multi-vitamins or supplements, someone from your relatives in the Philippines should consult an OB-GYNE in your behalf, and must inform the OB about your present situation, your medical history, your allergies if there is/are, and send you the prescribed medicines through courier like FedEx or UPS. And please, drink milk regularly to supply you and the baby the calcium needed, eat lots of fruits and veggies too.

Supplements that are needed naman:
*folic acid (400-800 mcg/day)
*Iron (low dosage only)
*Vit B12 (2.6 mcg/day)
*Iodine
*Calcium (1,500 mg/day)
*Biotin (300mcg/day)
* Probiotics / lactobacillus
*Vitamin C (500-1000mg/day)
*Niacin (19mg/day)
*Vit B2 (1.8mg/day

Somehow we're in the same boat - 1st trimester and it's so difficult to eat solid foods. I mostly eat fruits din. Boil mo lang ang carrots, brocolli, asparagus for a short time, then add a little salt, or butter or kahit salad dressing.

Toasted rye bread with cheese. Milk, yogurt everyday.

It's still best to have a healthy diet.

Kung mahirap kumain, take small servings each time, pero more frequent than regular meals.

Thanks so much megumi san. Ganun pala kapag preggy, constipated no kaya kailangan talaga ng fiber, natural fiber as much as possible. Pigeon yung tatak ng supplement, for maternity talaga.
