Cut&pasted from the above site:

MANILA (AFP) - Dell, the world's largest producer of personal computers said it has begun operations at its call center in the Philippines.

The call center, which provides customer and technical support to Dell computer users abroad, received its first inquiry from the United States yesterday when its initial 167 employees started work in a suburb of the country's capital, a Dell statement said.
Dell plans to increase its staff to 700 shortly, it added.
The company said it chose the Philippines for the center "primarily because of the strong language and communications skills of its workforce and a robust telecommunications infrastructure."
The Philippines, with a large, educated, English-speaking population, has emerged as a major location for call centers and business process outsourcing with this sector generating estimated revenues of 1.12 billion dollars last year.

Hope it will grow further to include high technical skills as well.

awww i used to work for em. but ey...ya know why the techs are like dat? cuz sometimes the customers' demands are so out of this world. cuz DELL doesn't send out a tech unless the customers troubleshoot first...to save em money.

good thing though, this means more job for Filipinos. but for me, that job ain't the kind of thing i would do for the rest of mah life.

Siguro naman. I guess our business sector, whilst not as big as others, are probably pursuing the same business challenges as those in anywhere else - to stay in business not only in day-to-day cases, but also even in 'emergency' situations like natural disaster.

I know of at least two telecom companies that implement disaster recovery solutions that are at par with what other companies at other parts of the world do implement.

Siguro kung may concern man, baka power problem.
