I'm just curious, how much of a hassle is it going between these airports w/ a balikbayan box and the usual checked luggage? Since Air Do offers cheaper fares to Haneda from Sapporo than Narita, I'm really considering flying to there though I'm a bit worried about transporting the box in the process... Anyhow, thanks in advance!

hello jpallon, para yatang ang bigat ng balikbayan box for domestic flight, since they allow only 15 kgs. pero kung may pambayad ka naman for the excess, why not..... enjoy your trip:cool:

There is a Limousine Bus service between Haneda & Narita.
The fare is 3,000 yen per person, and the trip takes about 75 to 90 minutes. Buses leave every 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the time of the day.
You are allowed, in principle, 2 pieces of luggage that will be carried in the baggage compartment at the bottom of the bus.
For more information, check out: http://www.limousinebus.co. jp/e/
You can also take the train by taking the Keisei Keikyu line (NOT the monorail). Choose a train that will go all the way to Aoto. From there, you can transfer to a limited express line that goes to Narita. This will take about 2 hours and will cost about 1,600 yen. But with a balikbayan box - it will be really inconvenient. Bayaran mo na lang ng extra 1,400 yen, take the Limousine Bus (driveway to driveway service) and arrive in stress-free, relaxed comfort.

Thanks guys! Do any of you know how much it costs to pay for the excess weight on a checked piece of luggage?

Maybe you can to try to have your balikbayan box and heavy luggage forwarded to Narita a few days ahead by takyubin (like by Yamato, yun black cat yun logo) and just claim it at their office inside the airport. Less hassle pa. :)

but coming from hokkaido, will charge him more, i think he better send it thru door to door service, mura lang at di pa siya maghihirap magbuhat. sa ngayon very fast ang service......
actually i'm on that business kaya alam ko hihihi.......

mas mura yata talaga pag i-door to door na lang yung balikbayan box kasi malamang over 20 kgs yang dala mo, magbabayad ka pa ng excess luggage which is very very expensive. sabagay, depende kung anong size ng box ang gagamitin ni jpallon
