They need more maids?
Guess their low birth rate has affected the number of people coming into the workforce?
That number could use an extra zero or two.

Immigration figures for 1994 were 53,535 Filipinos, 53,985 Chinese, 41,345 Vietnamese and 16,011 Koreans.
Wish I could find more recent numbers.... but that should put things in perspective.:)

This is a form of Free (or not so free) Trade btw.
The Italian govt is allowing the Philippines to export labor to their country.
The reverse of this would be... the Philippines allow Italians to work in the PI.
That would be true free trade.
Obviously it is limited to 3,000 Pinoys and if it was really free trade, Any or ALL Pinoys that want to go to Italy would be allowed to work.
Think of labor as a commodity that the Philippines exports.
