MANILA, Philippines -- Intel is looking to entice overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to buy laptops for their loved ones for as low as P18, 000.
Intel announced its "PC Padala" program in partnership with PC-maker Neo, computer school STI and Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI).
The program is intended to make purchases easier for Filipinos abroad, according to Intel.
Neo will provide laptops available for this program, including the Neo eXplore X2 netbook will be sold for P18,000. Other models available range from P22,000 to P37,000.
BPI and its remittance affiliates in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) will accept payments. STI, meanwhile, will provide free basic computer lessons, especially Internet and email, for families of OFWs receiving the laptops.
Intel said this PC program will also be launched in the United Kingdom.
