I stand corrected. You can use an iPhone with your long fingernails using Pogo stylus as NemoySpruce has suggested.

However, here are some disadvantages of using a stylus.
1. You have to pay to get one.
2. Typing or texting will be slow.
3. You always have to carry it with your phone.
4. etc

The only advantage I see is that you won't get fingerprints on your screen.

I've seen the price of the Pogo stylus and its merely around $25, not bad at all..
I don't really use my current fone for texting so i guess that would be fine and there's actually this leather case for the Iphone that includes a Pogo stylus holder, so i think i should not be having any problems in getting the Iphone.:)
