Midnight, you are mistaken. Best Picture was awarded to the film entitled Crash.;)
I am also very interested though about this film, i always like the way Heath Ledger acts. This time his role must have been very difficult to portray: a cowboy who developed an intimate relationship with another guy! :D
Brokeback Mountain's director, Ang Lee, got the Oscar, so it must be a good film i guess.:)
I haven't seen it yet though, but i'm sure i will.

Best Director is Ang Lee who is the first Asian Director to gain an Oscar Awards.

Goofs for Brokeback Mountain.
Hollywood tries... this is how tight Hollywood tries to make their films.
It's always amazed me how much attention to detail they do.
It's no wonder Hollywood is the best.
But still they mess up.
My guess... most of us won't notice these things.
Crew or equipment visible: When Ennis and his wife are fighting at one point they are passing their daughter back and forth. During this back and forth, her pajama top hikes up a bit and you can see her microphone cord.
Continuity: Jack is chopping wood when Aguirre approaches to give news of his sick uncle. Jack places the next log on the chopping block as he turns to speak to Aguirre. After the conversation is over and Jack turns back to chopping, the log is gone and he replaces the log that was never chopped.
Continuity: Ennis helps Jack to start his truck, then improperly closes the hood (you can see it isn't properly latched. Shortly afterward, Jack gets in his truck to drive away and the hood is fully closed.
Anachronisms: When Cassie dances with Ennis the first time, the jukebox is playing Steve Earle's "The Devil's Right Hand". In the movie it is supposed to be the late 70s, but that song wasn't released until his album Copperhead Road came out in 1988.
Factual errors: Early in the film (1963 Wyoming) a train is seen crossing the screen without a caboose. Cabooses were required by law on all trains into the 1980s.
Continuity: When Ennis approaches Alma with their daughters in the grocery store, one of the young girls pulls a jar of peanuts and knocks down the display, breaking many bottles. As the scene ends, the display is fully restored and re-stacked.
Continuity: During Jack's second bull ride, his free hand alternates several times from being his left or right hand. Since he's obviously not letting go to switch hands, either some shots are flipped or the sequence is edited from several takes.
Continuity: When Ennis and Alma are playing in the snow after sledding down the mountain, Ennis's hat is covering/not covering his ears between shots.

I'm surprised no one has to you to read between posts so that it will look like you'll know what you're talking about.
Go to post #4, dcat's post.
Enjoy TF.
Don't take anything personal here.
Again, welcome :)

..i finally saw the movie last night .. i liked it a great deal..
it was an excellent movie in some ways~direction, cinem athograpy, acting. Heath was superb, except that he mumbled too much (will someone pm me the last line?) :) anyway, he made his character deeper and more complex.. which i find it amazing ..
what i found appealing about the movie was the fact that there were really no "bad guys" as lead characters. it was just about each person's humanity and how it all played out in the game we call life.
..if you have a connection with your SO like the leads of the this movie do, you will understand the depth of feeling they have for each other. we all know that loving, passionate connections with other humans are very hard to find and sustain, regardless of the sexuality of the folks involved.
it is a tremendous film for anyone who has an appreciation for the human condition... good watch :)

@mOtt_eru.
The media keep tagging it as the gay cowboy movie, the queer Gone With the Wind. Coupled with the rise of homophobia as church and state shout down gay marriage, the film is up against it.
See the movie first and make your judgments later. It's an eye-opener. :)
