korek yung mga asa taas ko.. any kind of government is okay as long as the leader seeks what's good for its citizenry.
but for arguments sake, federal government? ang pinas? sus! sa sobrang politicking ng mga opisyal doon, mas gugulo lang pag pinaghati ang gobyerno.

For me, changing the form of government into Federal one means more long years of stay in Power of Mrs. Arroyo.
It is just like binubuhay ulit nila ang Cha-Cha....
It is not the form of government we have now but how you administered it.....
We came from a corrupt government and bureaucracy. What will you expect with the administration?
There are so many "red tapes in the bureaucracy". Same old dirty politicians have given the opportunity to seat in the Cabinet to protect the personal interests of Mrs. Arroyo and her FG.

Ayon kay Sen. Pimentel, it is only a change for Federal system and not for parliamentary system which can prolong Arroyo into power..
["Pimentel said Tuesday that the Senate resolution proposes a shift to a federal system of government while retaining the presidential system of government.
"I would like to say that Resolution 10 speaks only of a federal system. It does not deal with the adoption of a parliamentary system under which Gloria can conceivably extend her term by running for prime minister," he said.
But Pimentel acknowledged that if a different resolution is introduced, which proposes not only a shift to a federal system of government but also a shift to a parliamentary form of government, then Arroyo will be able to stay in power beyond 2010 if she runs for a seat in parliament, wins and her party takes control of parliament. "]

iba naman ang parliament. mas bagsak tayo dun! delikado yan lalo kung isang partido galing ang nahalal na head of state or head of government. man we're screwed.

Political federalism is a political philosophy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_philosophy ) in which a group of members are bound together (Latin: foedus, covenant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covenant_(disambigua tion))) with a governing representative head. The term federalism is also used to describe a system of the government (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government) in which sovereignty is constitutionally (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution) divided between a central governing authority and constituent political units (like states or provinces). Federalism is the system in which the power to govern is shared between the national and state governments, creating what is often called a federation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federation). Proponents are often called federalists (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federalist).
Samantalang ang Pilipinas ngayon ay may ganitong form of Gov't:
The Philippines has a presidential (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidential_system) , unitary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unitary_state) form of government (with some modification; there is one (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomous_Region_in _Muslim_Mindanao) autonomous region (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomous_area) largely free from the national government), where the President (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_of_the_Phi lippines) functions as both head of state (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_of_state) and head of government (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_of_government), and is commander-in-chief (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commander-in-chief) of the armed forces (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed_Forces_of_the_ Philippines). The president is elected by popular vote to a single six-year term, during which time she or he appoints and presides over the cabinet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabinet).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippines#cite_not e-About-0)
The bicameral (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicameral) Congress (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congress_of_the_Phil ippines) is composed of a Senate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senate_of_the_Philip pines), serving as the upper house (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upper_house) whose members are elected nationally to a six-year term, and a House of Representatives (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Representat ives_of_the_Philippi nes) serving as the lower house (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lower_house) whose members are elected to a three-year term and are elected from both legislative districts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legislative_district s_of_the_Philippines ) and through sectoral representation.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippines#cite_not e-About-0)
The judicial (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judiciary) power is vested in the Supreme Court (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supreme_Court_of_the _Philippines), composed of a Chief Justice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chief_Justice_of_the _Philippines) as its presiding officer and fourteen associate justices (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Associate_Justice_of _the_Supreme_Court_o f_the_Philippines), all appointed by the President from nominations submitted by the Judicial and Bar Council (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judicial_and_Bar_Cou ncil).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippines#cite_not e-About-0)
Attempts to amend the constitution to either a federal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_government), unicameral (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicameral) or parliamentary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parliamentary_govern ment) form of government have repeatedly failed since the Ramos administration (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fidel_V._Ramos).\

LOL basta may voting system, democratic form yan. FYI po bro, wiki is the most unreliable source on the net, but I'm not saying the definition is wrong, but rather incomplete.
OT: kasi naman eh, they only follow the constitution by whim, tapos ngayon ia-ammend pa? walang karapatan ang current government ng pinas na mag-ammend dahil sila mismo ang tumor na nagbibigay sakit sa sistema at constitution. puro negative ako sa PI government, la ko magagawa eh. pero isang tanong ko: Ano kaya ang matatamo ng sambayanang pilipino kung ma-ammend nga ang constitution?
panahon na siguro for pinoys to be active and not passive when it comes to politics, for these past events, binabastos na ng current govt ang mga pilipino di pa nakakahalata. kaya inaapi mga pinoy nationals ng mga dayuhan eh, kasi alam nila pera lang katapat, settled na. kundi man, anjan lagi ang gobyerno to settle the matter basta may pera pa rin.

hehehe.. unreliable nga minsan ang wikipedia kasi "contributions" ang mga definitions dito. thats why we have to check them first before quoting wikipedia. and for this instance, i guess tama naman ang definition. sana dinagdagan mo yung definition kasi "incomplete" sya.:D
Anyways, di naman form of gov't ang problema natin kungdi ang mga taong nagpapalakad nito. imagine being a federal gov't and handing more power to the likes of De Venecia, Chavit Singson, Barbers, Dilangalen and a whole lot of political clans for each provinces. Bottomline, lets not change our form of gov't but change the corrupt people that runs it and at the same time we as a people should also change our attitudes.

As what I have said, it is very hard to run a government wherein corruptions had rooted within it. With all the reforms that have been swept over the country, not all obstacles have been overcome. There are still looms, the threat of the same old issues that plague the country for ages.
Changing the system of government into federal ones, I think couldn't solve the current crises in the Philippine Governance..... Unless Mrs. Arroyo will resign into power

why? does anybody need my help of explaining the difference between parliamentary and federal system? as far as i know, people who have shared their two cents here know what they're talking about so I won't risk it presuming they don't know things. kung meron naman hindi nakakaintindi, pm me, I'll explain it. hindi naman ako magmamayabang na I know everything but i know a lot of things.;)

im sure na well aware ang mga pinoy na binabastos sila ng gobyerno but they are just too kind to react(doing something instead of just blabbering around).. patay malisya na lang.. im sure most of them have already given up hope..
real-world situation? i think the solution to the problem is a looooo~oooong one... it would take us years to actually achieve it..
:hihi:

CHACHA,Federal form of government .

Just waiting for the next move. :)

exactly. that's a good observation. :king::)
it's really about time to think of a better constitution that would fit to our country's needs. . We always cry out for change in our political system but we do nothing to make it happen because we're too relax with the present constitution. :)
