Have you ever wondered why it rains? Has it occured one time in your life when there's that nostalgic feeling that wraps your whole being when it rains? Funny but true. I always associate the rain to that certain point in my life when I would always be drenched in wretchedness or melancholy. A time when I was despondent that the sun would never ever shine.
Scientifically called precipitation (water that has undergone the so-called cycle -evaporation and condensation), rain for many is an annoyance. Especially if you're caught in the middle of a heavy downpour without even an umbrella or a piece of cardboard or newspaper to shelter you. But then, if you look at the pleasant side of it, rain in so many ways is helpful and useful too. It is clean purified water. It dampens dry marshes and parched lands. It is food for the plants and trees. So to speak, rain is indeed essential for life.
I feel sad when it rains. But only for a while now. As the saying goes, after the rain, the sun shines. It will always shine. Like life....like love. No matter how heavy the rains come, chances are, soon the sun will shine. My sun is shining now....brightly...af ter the rain. I feel more than good now when it rains.....:)
Ay naku! Ang agang senti naman nito! Umuulan kasi ngayon. Anyways, hello at good morning sa inyo mga ka-TF! Kayo, like nyo ba ang rain? Share your thoughts naman!

i guess it's just a matter of getting over things; like the thought that after the downpour...the clouds break...the sun shines...the rainbow shows off it's multi-colored arch for everyone to see.
and as you mentioned, rain is also a welcome respite from an otherwise scorching summer's day. one of the most beautiful places i've ever been was the town of sagada, mountain province. the temperature ranges from temperate to very very cold (for lack of a better description :)).
just before a downpour (which happens everyday at around mid afternoon), you'll suddenly feel the gush of cold wind, dark clouds would gather and you'd feel a mist-like substance on your skin...and then the rain starts. ever so gently at first; like a lover caressing your cheeks...and then it gradually increases; as your lover envelops you in it's arms.
sagada rainy days are a sight to behold; ewan ko ba...it never ceases to amaze me how a place so remote and simple can always make you feel good inside.
just to digress a bit, there's a song that shares the same title as the thread. syempre sentimental ito; talks of appreciating the things you have...never taking anything for granted. ako naman yata ngayon ang magiging sad...:(
Here's That Rainy Day
(Jimmy Van Heusen/Johnny Burke)
Maybe I should have saved
Those leftover dreams
Funny, but here's that rainy day
Here's that rainy day
They told me about
And I laughed at the thought
That it might turn out this way
Where is that worn out wish
That I threw aside
After it brought my love so near
Funny how love becomes
A cold rainy day
Funny, that rainy day is here
It's funny
How love becomes
A cold rainy day
Funny, that rainy day is here
so cheer up little girl blue :)

The memories of rainy days.
Nothing so precious to think but a simple yet happy memories of my childhood .Playing under the pouring rain with my younger sister, didn't want to stop until mother called us saying," 'Pag kayo ay nagkasakit ewan ko lang kung makapag laro pa kayo sa ulan" I couldn't got the real meaning .And as a child that was a big question for me,ibig kayang sabihin kung di kami magkakasakit payag s'ya na maglaro kami sa ulan ,pero bakit naman kami tinatawag pag naglalaro sa ulan?hehehe pilosopo kasi ako noong bata ako eh.
The during my teens I liked the song of Apo ,Pumapatak Na Naman Ang Ulan ,sounds a carefree feeling to me,seems it's just fine to stay at home all day long ,to be lazy ,umuulan kasi.
Now I'm still happy when it rains ,specially this gardening season , pag umuulan ,di ko na kailangang magdilig ng mga halaman ko ,:)

just as the sun brings warmth and care to everything and everyone it shines it's rays on...the rain soothes the tired and weary with it's cool and refreshing touch.
there's nothing better than feeling those soft droplets gently pouring on your face. have you ever tried crying in the rain? i haven't...but i tried it in the shower, hehe. never tried it again. why you ask? friggin' puffy puffy eyes! :)
a couple of stanzas i want to share; it's from a song originally done by the everly brothers but covered by the norweigian group a-ha (methinks their's is the better version...really haunting melody)
If I wait for stormy skies
You won't know the rain from the tears in my eyes
You'll never know that I still love you so
Though the heartaches remain
I'll do my crying in the rain
Raindrops falling from heaven
Could never take away my misery
But since we're not together
I pray for stormy weather
To hide these tears I hope you'll never see

hi geminigirl!
i didn't see this thread of yours until now! when it rains & i'm just in the house, i am reminded of my childhood days when me & my bros play in the rain without our mother's knowledge coz she might scold us. funny, how a child's happiness is just achored on little things like being allowed to play in the rain.....
i also don't know why i like rainy days...perhaps, it gives me reason to just stay in the house if it's a wkend and sit on a good book or gather my thoughts and compose some lines (like when i composed "Ode to my TF")... perhaps, it gives me a respite from my exhausting work... perhaps, it affords me time to reflect on things that happened, is happening & will happen & how should i move and map out my goals....
and yes! you, guys, are right! rainy days present a promise of a whole new day! the sun, as it radiates through the clouds, is such a sight to behold! especially if it's coupled with a rainbow with its vivid colors arching on the horizons..... they keep the hope in me burning.....
@chris_rock
yeah! i've experienced some rainy days in sagada! just this summer! & i agree with you! couldn't help not walking under the rain (even if i was shivering to death :D ) while trekking along the rice paddies! the greenery was such an amazing panoramic view! like you, i would never get tired of going there! i hope i could go back there before i leave! :)

:p call me weird, but i actually love rain and cloudy weather!i never really liked sunshine or sunny weather.i always avoid going outside when its sunny.i just hate how it irritates my eyes and the feel of the sun in my skin......though i don't mind being sunburnt.
even when i was a child,i don't mind going to school on rainy days.i usually took a bus or jeepney in the morning, but i always prefer walking home under the rain after classes.it's just that i feel more active and calm when it's raining.i don't know why,but rains just have a soothing effect on me.i'd say that i'm always at my best when it's raining!weird, huh!?

:) well it's good to see this thread back and active. i had the notion that once a thread had been placed behind the new threads it will be gone forever. hindi pala. i guess it goes with the mood. is it raining there in japan now? mousugu aki desuyo ne. yellow leaves falling, a cool breeze that gently blows.....oh i missed this season.....
but it sure has been raining here in the philippines specially in my place, the bicol region. call it superstition or belief, but the old folks here say that everytime the fluvial procession for the lady of penafrancia nears, it rains almost everyday to fill the river up so the pagoda would sail smoothly above the waters and not touch the bottom and get stuck. guess it's true because it always rains before the fluvial procession. a miracle? perhaps.....and we bicolanos have always believed in that.
and for you guys who love the rain, it is indeed a thrill to get wet in the middle of a downpour and let the drops freely and gently touch your cheek......:)

hi geminigirl, I am in contrast to most people's reaction when they knew the rain is coming or there's been a rainfall already.....i miss the sight of the rain, like the song "like the desert miss the rain"....all out here in the middle east, rain is a rare spectacular, once a year it will come in drizzles, or lucky sometimes twice to thrice every year accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning....going back home in Philippines or every visit I had to Japan, the one thing I look forward to is attainable, 'the sight of the rain!" Normally I would go out to the balcony, watch the raindrops tap the railings, the bricks....smell the scent of the rain, it's a sight to behold.
