so i find myself awake around 5 in the morning for no apparent reason. there was still a hint of coolness in the air. except for the occasional rooster crowing, it was still relatively quiet. i'm thinking, 'it's strangely calm this friday morning, hhmmm'.

seeing that it's way too early to prepare for work, i plop on my old trusty headphones to listen to some music to while away the time. uhm, what to play on an early friday morning?

searching my cd bin, flipping through the titles...not this, not you, way too loud, boriiiing...and then i suddenly one that i haven't played in a long while. well hellooo there...

it was one of the very first cds i owned. i remember when i was smaller, i'd see a long playing record of this album just laying around. i got scared then when i first saw the album cover. there was a certain creepiness to it; eerie even. on the cover was a very somber lady...and a cat.

so i plunk it in my portable and start humming. ang boring naman eh. i skip past the first few couple of tracks to settle on track 7, 'you've got a friend'. now this i haven't heard in a while.

as i go further into the song, i was thinking, 'carole king's such a good composer'. pero what made her write this song? i assumed that for someone to write a song this good, the person must have been really in despair.

as they say, 'you can't feel it, if you ain't in it'.

anyways, i'm guessing this is gonna be a good day for me (fingers crossed). just off the top of my head; i woke up early...i got to listen to something really good...

Hi Chris! Just popping in to see what song you have posted again. Sure this song is a hit. Like it, and sing it. But you've got to listen to James Taylor's version too of this cut. Plus his cool rendition of "If I Keep My Heart Out Of Sight". Nice lyrics. Nice melody. Makes me think of a better way to shun from this crazy feeling called........LOVE.. ..

JT's cover is also good imho. iirc, he won a grammy in 1971 for this song. a remarkable feat for someone, who just 2 years earlier, was into rehab for drug-related problems.

am getting back to this old thread and was once again looking at the lyrics of the song. my new found firends really proved to be really true friends....who'd hang around for hours to listen and talk to me....to put me in good spirits after certain heartbreaking episodes in my life...it's fun after a momentary slip-up in life. then you blame yourself for doing so....but they don't. they'd just say that maybe a week in tagaytay or baguio will ease the bite of it....that all i need is to smile inspite of the pain.....that romance stifles those who strive...to make it work (and am stupid for striving like hell!).....that i should forget, or i might rot with the rest of those whose lives are lonely too.....

so, thanks to these so-called firends.....i've got a bunch to cherish and love.:)

i'm having nostalgia right this very moment..... looking for a related thread & i saw this one....

have you guys experienced loosing a friend because of a stupid guy (sorry for the word)...

i just suddenly thought about an old friend...i don't know if i can still call her that now after what she did to me..... it's been more than a year since that fateful day....that led to the end of a nice friendship (at least, that's what i thought then)... the day when she was ditched by her boyfriend of 2years for another girl! she was blaming me for that! how could she! when all i did was help his boyfriend to be hired here in our firm where he met the girl for whom he ditched my friend! was it really my fault? had i foreseen that to happen, i shouldn't have recommended him at all!

in the first place, i did that for her! i thought that their relationship will eventually lead to here-comes-the-bride event...that the guy was serious about her.... & since he thought that his work before wasn't really that good and that he wanted to join our firm as a stepping stone towards a better career opportunity, he asked me to help him. & i did! i didn't know that would mark the day that ends a good friendship!

i tried my best to enlighten my friend! but i guess, a wounded heart & pride won't fathom reason! so i let her with her senseless laments for that good-for-nothing guy! didn't talk to her for long....i was thinking, time heals all wounds...& i thought that one day, she would realize she thought wrong of me....and that our friendship would be back as it used to be....

but i guess i was wrong...she hasn't moved on! & i think we couldn't really be as we were before! it has been tainted! & i realized that she's one friend not really worth keeping!

i must admit though i miss my gimiks with my friend! our out-of-town trips with our barkada... the late-night coffee hang-outs...the shop-til-you-drop weekends...the endless girl-talks.... we were like sisters back then! and now, everything vanished into oblivion!

i'm having some thoughts, did i read wrong about her? or it's just that she's extremely hurt? but she should have gotten over that by now! it's been more than a year!

now, i couldn't really help not getting pissed off everytime i see this guy especially if he's with his new gf!

funny, how we think it's easy to find friends! how we consider all our acquaintances as friends...but finding one in the real essence of the word is difficult....

maybe there's only one true friend for me.... my soulmate....

some friendship are really worth keeping for...this song journeys me back when I was yet in college, I had a group called "gourmets". All over the school campus we were very famous because during that time our group had an almost near rendition to pussycat dolls staging...I really got these gals proved their commitment to me when I got married recently, I gave them special parts during my wedding and their participation pays off, I really got a friend!:)
