Thank you TF members for being patient. The site seems to be working fine after the update although there might be bugs somewhere. Please post in this thread if you get errors while accessing parts of Timog Forum.

To whom interested in studying Japanese:
The following is native-checked.
(Gokurosama deshita is an expression used only for someone who is the same or lower in rank or social status, or to a younger person. However, sometimes a young Japanese doesn't know this rule. Though Nic is our friend, and he/she may not be very old, Otsukaresama deshita seems more appropriate here. The same rule is applied to Ja-ne and Osakini shitsurei shimasu.)

Wow, “Most users ever online” was renewed to 408 (05-05-2006 at 06:31 PM.)
I wonder if I was one of the 408.

The update was right after this new record.
Maybe the update has something to do with the number of users.
I wonder if TF is now prepared for how many users on line at the same time.
(You don’t have to answer this question, if it is better kept secret for security reasons.)

Thanks for your comments. There are no layout changes during the upgrade; most of the maintenance work was made to make the system more stable and hacker-proof.

In your profiles, you can also now add your Skype details if you want to talk to other members using this free service. You need to have the latest version of Skype installed on your computer. Details in Skype.com (http://www.skype.com).

Unfortunately, this update won't make the website faster; we need to move to a faster server (more processing power, more RAM) for that, which we will do in a few month's time when we get someone to finance the move. We frankly didn't expect the number of simultaneous users getting to the hundreds which makes the system crawl to halt during the busy hours.

Thanks also for your encouragements. We try to make Timog Forum accessible and useful for everyone and we just want members to try to share this website with each other. I think the moderators are doing a good job, although we all have been scarce lately because of the holiday.

I hope you also enjoyed your holidays. :)

but i'm just wondering if you could enhance more the chat capability of the site...for example, if i want to initiate a private chat with another member, how am i gonna do that...can't find the applicable icons/buttons in the chat menu....

of course, there's the PM menu, but it's not real time!
