I'm planning to buy US$ dollar. Buying thru bank by TTS rate is the regular way. Is there any other way to buy dollar here in Japan? Or are there prefered banks that give higher TTS rate?
Thanks.

if you have a military or mil. dependent friend, you can ask them to have your yen convert to dollars at Community banks inside US bases, meron din sa shinwa bank :0)

ineng & maverick_jp,
thanks sa info nyo. i'll check shinwa bank & post office. but, sad to say wala akong friend sa u.s. military (umuwi na sila sa states) kaya i'll just stick with banks/post office.
continue pa rin ang trend ng pagtaas ng japanese yen against dollar kaya naghihintay pa ako hanggang ito ay mag-peak. i don't know how will today's events (rise in u.s. interest rate & dow at 6-year high...vs. next week's growth outlook of japan ) affect the exchange rate.

Daikokuya 大黒屋 gives 1 yen better rate than the banks. Below is the list of their shops.
May be of use to you if they have a shop accessible you.

d_southpaw,
Thanks sa info about Daikokuya. Yeah, they advertise that they give 1 yen better deal than banks. But, today I've checked their rate and compared it to bank rate.
May 11, 11:00 rate
Daikokuya rate: TTS (113.15), TTB (109.15)
Mizuho bank rate : TTS (112.15), TTB (110.15)
Mukhang mas mataas pa rin ang rate ng banks dahil updated ito sa market. It seems na ang sinasabi nilang mas mataas ang rate nila ay comparison sa rate ng banks few days ago (?!). Well, this only my observation and I might be wrong.
gemini_19,
Thanks for the generous offer. But, like what you've said medyo malayo tayo.
