I thought democracy was the Philippines' system of government, not theocracy. What happened to freedom of speech? :confused: Seems like the government is filled with religious nutcases. I bet they're still waiting for a "miracle" to fix our country's problems, and robbing the taxpayers blind before going to confession. :rolleyes:

yup tama ka sis hindi ipalabas sa SM maski nga mga sexy films ayaw ipalabas ng SM....mahigpit talaga si lucio tan ba may hawak ng SM sa ROBINSON ipalabas si gokongwei di masyado mahigpit.....

balita ng sis ko sa pinas di daw ipapalabas sa mga SM branch ang the vinci,sa ibang theater lng daw pwede. Dami din siguro nag aabang sa atin...isa na rin ang sis ko.:) ako sure panonoorin ko dito kahit mag isa ako:D

Can't they differentiate FACT from FICTION? Tsss. I'm a Catholic and although I don't 100% believe in organized religion, I know I have more than enough faith to not get swayed by a piece of fiction. :rolleyes: Sabi nga ng friend ko, kaya daw siguro na-ban ang Da Vinci code is because Dan Brown told GMA that she is a direct descendant of Judas. Haha! Just kidding. I think ban lang siya sa ibang theaters, pero bakit sa SM kanina may ads akong nakita... I've read the book & seen the movie. Super ganda niya!

I have read both “Da Vinci Code” and “Angels and Demons”.
Hard cover version with a lot of pictures is available even at COSTCO, and I strongly recommend it for these novels.
Because some of the explanations in the novels are difficult to understand, if you don’t know the original pictures or sculptures or buildings.

Both are shallow, but very good entertaining books, page-turners, and that’s all.
To me “Angels and Demons” was more exciting to read but it would be very difficult to make it a movie because of the horrible deaths of the cardinals and all.

If you read carefully you will know in both books most Catholics are mentioned as righteous and faithful people.

The movie, based on Dan Brown’s bestseller, tells of an alleged conspiracy by the Catholic Church to hide for centuries the fact that Jesus Christ was a prophet, and not a God, who ultimately married Mary Magdalene.

Many religious groups including the Cristians and surprisingly the Moslems all over the world took a move to ban the showing of this film in theaters. Their main concern is not about the destruction of the faith of the believers but the possibility of the young minds to encounter confusions despite its claim as a fiction. Talagang super kontrobersyal itong DA VINCI CODE sa atin,nakakatuwa nga e ,opening ng Thursday sa atin yan niyaya ako ng anak kong manood sa Greenbelt at alam nyo bang kumuha kami ng ticket around 6 pm pero magagamit namin yung ticket para sa 12:30 pm na showing grabe ang tao sa mga sinehan.:D Ngayon dito kaya sa Japan ganon din ang curiosity nila sa film na ito?

..usually when critics dislike a movie, normal people like it, and vice versa.... it's a story (a good one) so peeps just watch the movie to have a good time :)

the casting and Ron Howard seem to be very great.. makes me think this is a great movie , can't wait to see the flashback scenes... i'll probably see it tommorow or by next week , pag may nakasamang manood .. yokohama peeps!! ..nood tayo yuhoo~~~ :D

I just want to inform you that the documentary about da vinci code has a replay today at ch 741 National Geographic Channel at 4-6 pm.I watched it late last night it's much more interesting than sa book na nabasa ko last year(syempre visual dba?)

What if Da Vinci was right? What if Jesus did marry Mary Magdalene? And Magdalene got pregnant, and gave birth to a girl? Will this shakens your faith in Jesus? (Let's just cosider our own faith, not the teachings of the Catholic Church). For me, so what! Jesus was once human like all of us. The teachings of Christ, HIS way of life as what is written in the bible, are significant among all others. HIS unconditional love to HIS friends as well as enemies. The story of the Da Vinci Code is more or less a fiction. Why does it bother the church? :confused:Yesterday napanood ko na yung THE VINCI actually my comment "nice its like on the book but more emotionsl".Dun sa question mo what kung true yun...Whats the big deal diba me im catholic nabasa yung book i watch the movie nothing change its what we believe and our faith,JESUS is holy but HE could also be human like us....

i watched the movie yesterday.

it's good that's it.

But i cried on the part of telling the story that Mary Magdalene is the wife of Jesus..........
i felt that it is big mockery and a blashphemy on the diety of Jesus Christ, even it is just a fictitious movie.

God's power is not a joke. And if you truely believe Christ deeper, and know what it is being a "spiritual believer" .... only anti-Christ people have the nerve to do this movies and even print out the book.

May God have mercy on us ~~~ all.

i just saw the movie awhile ago. as a backgrounder of 'the da vince code' situation here in the phils;

- manila mayor atienza has banned the movie's showing in the city

- a congressman from the 6th district of manila filed a motion in congress to ban the movie nationwide. he even called for the resignation of the mtrcb chair because she "failed to become the guardian of morality and social consciousness of the Filipino people.”

- the movie was given an r-18 rating. the SM cinema malls do not, as a matter of practice, show films with an r-18 rating

now all this talk of banning the movie and blasphemy has just given juan dela cruz more reason to see it. and i guess the movie's producers couldn't be all too happy with the negative publicity their newest project has gotten. it means more ticket sales; more of the hype and hoopla tranlates into more titillated minds!

you know how curiosity gets the better of most people; say that something is gonna be banned for one reason or another and it get's people crazily curious about it. they didn't care to ban the book; so why the hype about the movie. the book has been in publication for 2 years i guess; it's been translated into 35 languages and already had 46 million copies in print. and to top it all...it has been on the new york times bestseller list for more than a year.

story wise, it's an eye opener. a faith-shaker it definitely is not; don't believe everything you read in the papers. a 2.5 hour movie cannot and will not convince you to change sides. or will it?

but it gets you thinking; what if it were true? what if there was really an iota of truth to what the book and the movie claimed had transpired? will it change the way you look at what you have learned to believe is true and factual? will it change the way you believe in Him?

at the end of the day, it is in what you believe in that matters....

@chris rock ah ganun ba bro....sabi ng sis ko napalabas naman daw yung da vinci sa manila but yung SM lang ang tumangi GRabe....ROBINSONS MALL dinumog lahat ng cinema puro da vinci sold out ticket pati popcorn.....tama ka dyan basta ganyan inaharang mas lalong curious panoorin ng people..

ah ok, that was the last i read kasi about the movie being banned in manila. baka they decided to show it at the last minute; i stand corrected.

my guess is, the local distributors are laughing themselves all the way to the bank! i wonder much the move will earn in it's first week.

sana sony can host a thank you party for all those who contributed to the huge turnout inticket sales...especially those who were so against the movie. :D

I've watch the THE DA VINCI CODE movie today,nothing really special in the movie itself.I find it as just a movie ,mixed with fiction and some history.sabi nga ni Tom Hanks,"WHAT MATTER IS...WHAT YOU BELIEVE".so I guess,dapat ipalabas din sana sa Pinas,coz it's just a good movie.I've been to Vatican once,5 years ago,and it was an amazing experience.There are places there that I wished I could study more deeper,kase very interesting,kase sabe nga ni Tom Hanks,knowing the past,may lead you to understand more of the future....
