View Full Version : Want to learn nihongo also... :)
Elo po to all the members in timog... :)
Bago lang po ako dito, I really really want to learn nihonggo. When i was in highshool and even now i always watch alot of japanese cartoons or anime. May mga alam akong pero very few lang. mga greetings like ohayo gozaimasu! and mga one word lang. I want to enchance it sana. Nakapunta na rin ako diyan sa japan for training, last Feb 5,2006 mga 49 days lang ako diyan sa wakayama-shi, umehara, japan. Malapit lang siya dun sa osaka.
Need ko lang talaga matuto kaso... super busy lang ako sa work ko dito sa pinas kaya i've have no time to go into a japanese school here in manila. The only time i have is here to check in the internet. Work rin kasi ako sa isang japanese company here in manila... eh usually every 1 or 2 years pinabalik kami diyan for training. Na-experience ko kasi na hindi ganun ka galing talaga mag-english ang hapon... mostly only few can speak english fluently.
Not only work related eto pero talagang gusto ko talaga matuto... Inspired talaga ako matuto. Sana po matulungan ninyo ako... Thank you po! sana visit po kayo dito ulit sa pinas minsan minsan. :)

Hi Hans!:)
Welcome to Timog Forum. You should check out forums about Japanese Discussions here, I think you're gonna learn a lot. Remember also that language cannot be fully grasp if you don't know so much about the culture it is based on. So I also suggest that you browse and read through Buhay Japan topics, join the discussions that interest you, communicate with other members, ask questions, it's gonna help you a lot i guess.
Sana maging enriching para sayo ang iyong stay sa TF. Remember na ginawa itong TF para sayo, at sa iba pang katulad mo. Kaya sana makatulong ito sayong interest.
Good luck sayo pre, galingan mo.;)

Hi, welcome sa TF.
I agree with dcat.
Also, some of the members almost always insert a few Japanese words into their posts. (Watashi mo desu. = Ako rin.)
The following is some of the words I found recently that were used without explanation, probably because the writers thought most members knew these words already.
munku= monku 文句 complaining
oto= お父 daddy, but in the context it meant her her husband.
This must be more affectionate than to say otosan.
ayashii =妖しい suspicious ,
yatta!=やった! literall y it means "did" but in the context, it meant " great", or "I am happy they won."

hi hans welcome to tf..if you want to learn nihongo start w/ the basic ...
happy posting...:japanese: :tfrocks:

Learning the language online is a good start. You can master the kana in a few weeks and learn a few kanji if you try. You can memorize vocabulary words, common expressions, basic grammar and so on if you just search the net and watch anime. Our TF friends are here to help if you have questions.
However, the level that you would eventually attain would be limited. For one, it would be very hard (if not impossible) to learn the proper pronounciation and intonation of some words just by self-studying. There are tapes/cds commercially available but they won't talk to you back. :D
What you will need is a teacher - someone who has mastered the language. Therefore, in my opinion, if you really want to learn (i.e. good enough for everyday conversation), I'm sorry to say this, but I think it would be best to enroll in a Japanese school. I understand that you are a busy person, but you will need to "make" some time for learning. There is really no easy way. :O A couple of hours a week wouldn't be bad. This is my honest opinion. Inspired talaga ako matuto.That's the spirit! Good luck to you Hans. :)

... there's a lot of links related to studying japanese online but i think you won't learn to speak a language unless you have a chance to practise it..just reading books nor links online won't do that for you..practising the japanese language with someone who could really speak the language could really work... that would improve your speaking and , amp; listening skills... my two cents ... btw; welcome to Timog Forum.. feel at home :)

Thank you po sa mga replies ninyo... I'm will do my best para malearn ng nihonggo. hmmm im try to read po yung mga japanese culture like dcat says. I have only a little background lang whats life there in japan. Napunta ako kasi sa province ng japan kaya medyo different yung ambience dun compared to tokyo and osaka as my 'sensei' told me. Thank you po sa idea i'll try to read more or search....
May marerecomend po ba kayo na mga site na pwede matuto ng nahinggo? yung libre lang ;) . may CD rin ng basic japanese so install ko lang siya later. Pero i think na i could learn more sa forum like... puting tainga said Watashi mo desu. yatta!===> i like this word :D i also like kawaii! kawaii kayong lahat ;)
Kunti palang lam ko lang Kore wa, Sore wa, Are wa, tapos ending with desu. or desu ka? yung mga 'thing' words medyo di ko pa alam like pencil... etc. pero i'll try to read again.
Thank you rin dax sa opinion.. I was thinking nga rin kaso as i can imagine to hard talaga because on call kasi ako meaning even sat & sundays may work or sometimes i be placed outside metro manila. Mr. traveling man eh ka nga sabi ng Tokio band. :)

Try Wikipedia English.
Start with "Japan" and go to other words that are linked in the explanation.
Libre!
