announceHello everyone! Starting Friday, May 26, we will start testing a new system for displaying the latest threads on the frontpage. As you all know, up until now, the latest threads from various forums (mostly inside the Community Forums) are displayed on the left-hand side of the frontpage automatically.
With the new system, only threads from the Forum Announcements and the newly created Frontpage Items (and other forums specified by the administrators) will be displayed on the frontpage. Because ordinary users can't post in these forums, from now on no threads by regular registered members will be displayed automatically on the frontpage.
There are 2 reasons for this: 1.) Quality. We would like to encourage quality posts for the frontpage (the present system allows "ask-ko-lang" types of posts that we believe do not belong to the frontpage). Quality posts by regular registered users in the forums may be moved by the moderators into the Frontpage Items to be displayed on the frontpage.
2.) Security. Because Timog Forum is an open website, it is also very open to abuse. In the present system, any malicious intruder can register in Timog Forum and wreck the frontpage in less than 10 minutes. This has happened before and as we continue to grow and attract the attention of outsiders, it will surely happen again in the future. The new system will prevent this.
We request your cooperation to make the new system a success. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.
