Do you ever wonder how many foreigners visiting Japan every year? How many professionals, entertainers, government officials, artists, etc. by country are coming here in Japan? Lots of statistic per catergory are listed on the link below. Please have a look if you find some time and see for yourself where the PHILIPPINES or FILIFINOS are. Are we are NO.1 for GOOD or BAD?
The link below listed data only upto FY-2000 to FY-2004. Maybe the Immigration office are tabulating the latest one, so try to comeback again after a few months. I'm a litlle bit curious about the latest statistic of filipina entertainers this year because we are absolutely NO.1 until FY-2004.

Just by looking at this figures, doesn't really helped me see whether we are No.1 for GOOD or BAD. But, this gave me a vivid idea on how we stand in the Japanese society.
Great thread. I salute you for this.

Yehey, I am really proud of being a Filipino. Too good that most Pinoys are risk-takers. We should be proud of that reality.

There is nothing we can do about it.We just grab the chance during that time. The only remedy for starvation and the only capability of the filipinos in this country (japan)that the past administration had to offer. We are more productive now and skilled, maybe in the near future we can change it from entertainer to proffessionals.Anywa y this is only in Japan.:)

I agree. Nothing can be done to those statistics.
Hereon is a different thing. If everyone will extend efforts towards helping someone they can, the collective result will be visible. But this is not a popular thinking, it seems.
We are more productive now and skilled, maybe in the near future we can change it from entertainer to professionals.
Would you share what is your basis in saying this.

It's about time to re-align and re-organize our efforts. Sana we take each day as a class lecture. That for me is the essence of being a hard worker in Japan, no matter what job we are into.

Oo nga, around 200,000 Filipinos are currently residing here in Japan and roughly 150,000
naman ang new arrivals by staus of residence. Ang dami talaga natin. We can build our own Filipino community, parang China Town sa Yokohama.

I guess China Town is built to take advantage of 'food and restaurant business' opportunity. And I guess the Chinese are better when it comes to grouping together. Tayo kayang mga Pilipino. Ano kaya ang level ng skills natin towards organizing or being part of an organization; or being part of a business community. I hope we are progressing or learning.

We also have various authentic Filipino dishes: like adobo, sinigang, kare kare, litson and so forth. Araw araw, kapag nakikita ko ang mga posts ng ating mga kababayan sa "Kainan at Lutuan", makes me crave for our dishes. But as you pointed out, are we good at grouping together, like the Chinese? I earnestly hope we could.:O

Rational??? Did I mention something about the "truth"?
What I am trying to share in this thread eh meron din po tayong professional music entertainers:) Who am I fooling?
I just can't help it...kung bakit nalulungkot yung ibang kapwa natin filipino sa pagkakita sa statistics na majority eh entertainers.:( Kung sila (entertainers) ang majority...sila pala ang pinakamaraming nagbigay ng ginhawa sa pamilya nila sa Pilipinas. Hindi man nila napasaya ang buong Pilipinas, or ang buong TF...napasaya naman nila ang pamilya nila. Let's view this statistic from a positive perspective.
Well, ganbatte to the "professionals"...filipinos are looking forward to all of you!!!

Pero if you look at the statistics and the figures, na karamihan sa mga pilipino na nandito sa Japan ay entertainers. That is the truth I am talking about.
When you look at the statistics, hindi lahat pare-pareho ang magiging reaction. Natural lang ito. But it helps to look at them from the point of view of the majority, including the whole Japanese community and other foreign communities living here in Japan.

Ooops that's not my objective, ang ibalik ang topic ng mga entertainers. I was just pointing out my views according to statistics. That majorities of it are the "entertainers": pinakamarami sa statistics na nakapagbigay ng ginhawa sa pamilya nila.
I salute to them!!!
We were once an entertainer, four of us. After the contract we separated our ways. They continued their course in college kahit paputol putol, ako naman nakapag asawa. I was just thinking kung kasama na sila sa statistics ng mga professionals and engineers or just trainees here in Japan. They're planning to come back here as soon as they finish their course. That was three years ago...
Good luck to them!!! Soon they'll be A TF member...

Excuse me for saying "stop fooling ourselves about the TRUTH". Insead, I should have said "let us rationally face the truth/facts" as what was pointed out on the previous threads regarding the entertainers.

Yes,TF members we still have chance and lots of time to rebuild and renew ourselves. They already started to stop hiring entertainers here, that means we are now capable and they beleive(japanese) ,maybe realized that we also have enough ability to mingle with them.
They can see that filipinos do not deserve just to be critisized, and insted they try to understand our needs and how and why we are here.I myself being an ordinary unnoticed by the public, as a critic,I could say that it`s about time, slow process but right on time progress is now in our hands. We work hard enough for our brothers and sisters back home send them to school,(we are now, at least have met the standard of leaving in our own country, )so let them come as professionals. Now we`ll see that there`s no other choice but to study hard and be pro.in order for them to come to Japan and in any other parts of the world.Maybe this kind of thinking,we can change that not so good results of statistics that we each and everyone of us is being affected.
As of building our own community, maybe we have to change ourselves first, get rid of those "tsismisan".Everybody has the right to have his own privacy.By then maybe we can start right away.Be systematic in everyway. We are good imitators, why not the japanese way!:)

i was surprised also at maraming nagbigay ng comments here in my thread. like you seen in the statistics, filipino professional is increasing every year. when im started working here and that was year 2000, i checked the data and it was almost 100 persons only and mostly in the field of engineering. maybe this year 2006, the data almost reached 600 or more. but i think we are not on the top five, since china and india professionals are more reliable in japanese companies. the reason is the market economy of china, and the IT prowess of india. and other engineers also from other neghbor countries is coming here in japan.
our entertainers great a good job in our economy and to their respective families. but the sad thing is medyo walang support ng government. and i salute them. since they are only in the field of entertaining, walang masyadon magandang feedback sa japanese and the results is bumaba pa ang tingin nila sa mga kababaihan natin because of some incidents where filipina are being the subject.

If the Filipinos would be given the opportunity to work here in Japan, there will be a chance to establish our own excellency. Not just based solely on the pretty low impression of our kababayan entertainers. It’s the austerity imposed by the Japanese government which restricts our professional Filipino workers, from coming here. Merely, considering this statistics proved to be a modification of that notion.
Whew!!! 'm really getting serious on this topic:D (doesn't fit my identity here)

actually all the filipinos and anybody has the opportunity to work here. di naghihigpit ang japan about it. they are open about it already. if not di sana ko here nagwowork.
the problem is the other filipino proffesional kono. they think that although, graduate na sila ng isang course is they are already capable of working here. if they just make some effort to grind their skill more madali na siguro ang lahat. iba na kasi ngayon ang labanan eh, you must have that plus alpha thing. iyon ang malimit na hinahanap ng mga employer. and thats what some filipino professionals including me are lack of.

Based on my personal experience, this is very true. Having a diploma or diplomas are not enough. The working condition here is very different from the Philippines. The pay maybe good but there's a catch that goes with it. As Striver empasized, not all have the capabilities. I remember this verse, "many are called but only few are chosen".
@kisha57, I admire your optimism. But would it be better if our professionals could establish their careers inside our own native land. Instead of thinking of going out, and come here or somewhere else.
Well, this is just a thought.

There are a few difficult stories, specially about the job.
When I came back here in Tokyo, I went to clubs, just to understand/know what is in there.
We can only that they coped up with their predicament and are now doing their best and have the chances to lead good lives.

Like it or not, entertainers are here to stay...
More power!

entertainers are here to stay...
I cannot agree nor disagree with that. It depends not on our opinion, but on how the Japanese will continue implementing their laws, and how those businesspeople (yaks pa rin ba ang majority don sa business?) will continue to circumvent those laws.

Whew!!! 'm really getting serious on this topic:D (doesn't fit my identity here)
Paano kaya natin gagawin o magagawa iyan, Sensei? Oo nga baka lumayo tayo sa dapat nating tutukan na topic - our power through our numbers in Japan.

This is another project proposal to really prove that our numbers are powerful. ;)

Kabayang Tonyang, I was once an entertainer.

Hello everyone...this is my first time to post a message :)
For the record, not only entertainers are soaring high here in Japan, there are a lot of Professionals working here most especially in the Engineering Companies ...working as a seconded employees ( skilled ones ) ... taking each day as a normal routine employee interacting with various professionals not only with Japanese people but other counterparts too...that makes the best sense of my stay here...proving that we can do also the things they are capable of.... How I wish that there would be more opportunities for other Filipinos offered here as professionals too, to the least..we should make the best out of it while staying here...Keeping the pride that we are also world class workers:D
Good day everyone:D

Hi Rhein0702, welcome sa TF.
>To whom it may concern
Maraming ka-TF na housewives who were once entertainers.
I believe all of them have been giving it their best and will be doing so forever.
Through their daily efforts in coping with old Japanese culture and taking care of children, they are making the image of Phillippines even better each new day among the poeple who know them.
Beauty was not the only reason why they were chosen to stay here in Japan.

Putintainga, thanks for your ideas... but you will agree with me that first, there was beauty and everything originated from this then the rest was history.
Mawalang galang lang po muna sa inyo Aling Tonyang and other Professionals here...
I can't agree with you that an idea of "first there was beauty and everything originated from beauty" is false.. I will agree on you if you stated that theres a talent, professionalism and beauty in the Entertainer World pa... Ok I wanna share my views and experiences as a Musician Entertainer here in Japan and in Other country.. para maliwanagan ka and some of the professionals here who meddle this kind of statistics.. And dont know what kind of Proffessionals or career they have?? Anyway, as an Entertainer.. they are categorized as Class A, Class B, and Class C.. Class A are the Professional Musicians, a Self Contained Performer as a Showband. Class B are the Cultural dancers yata and Class C.. I dont have an idea what is that but maybe its a Receptionist... Iam a Professional Musician, thats my career before.. I started as a church choir in my high school and in my college days.. In my time, My Group band are having a strict auditions at the Metropolitan Theater to pass thru the professional auditioners like Marilyn Martinez, George Canseco and Basil Valdez.. and get this Class A category yellow card (not yet blue card) as our license and permission to travel also in abroad. We practiced and make sifra for 1 whole week just to make pulido at makama namin ang 1 song in our repertoire.. Then we have to book our selves by our Managers in some Hotel venues in Manila or other parts of the country.. while we are goin to have our Academic training like in the country of France, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore.. Kasama na don ang Language School and Culture of the country where to go.. Noon kasi, if you are not enrolled in Yamaha or any School of Conservatory of Music, you cant pass and go to abroad..
Ako, I enrolled in School of Music pa and have my Professional Music Trainor din. And this was all my career instead. My group Showband are all talented and a professional musician but some of them are not having this beauty looks. One of our member in Showband from Cebu is talagang mukhang palaka.. but she got this heavenly voice and a good hand making to adlib her guitar with the gadgets.. She was so talented but there is no beauty looks in her. So iba-iba ang category ng Entertainer, There is a a Self Contained Performer Musicians, As a Cultural Dancer, and as a Receptionist.. And as a Homemaker now, dont wanna bastardized my profession or my career before because, I made my career thru thick and thins.. So I made this post to clear it up.. I wanna post some videos of my Showband Group song Repertoire here in Japan and some of the Legitimate Dancers too na nakasama namin sa Stage pag may time na ako.. Para maging eye opener din.. Anyway, ang iba jan na they called them Professionals but they dont behave like Professionals..
Can somebody get me the meaning of a Professional?? Is it..
1). of relating to, engaged in, or suitable for a profession: lawyers, doctors etc..
2). conforming to the standards of a profession.. professional behavior
3). having or showing great skill; expert;
4). performed by persons receiving pay;
5). engaging in a given activity as a source of livelihood or as a career;
6). one who earns a living in a given or implied occupation;
BINGO!! So be specific on the word Entertainers and they called Professionals too..

I have a close friend who married a Mechanical Engineer who owns this big Metal Fabrication Factory bussiness.. And as a wife of this Sacho.. She works too on her Clerical job like do some vouchers salary of their employees..

to @tagarp san,@luvberry,@lucyp san MABUHAY po kayo!
when someone see me in person, they always asked me kung dating student ba ako bago
ako nag-asawa,o di kaya omiai kekkon daw ba? nobody asked me kung saan ako nag talent.(mukha siguro akong katulong he..he..)
alam nyo po sa mga katulad namin, NAPAKALALIM po namin,I really do not know how
words are not enough to express the experiences we had in our time working as an entertainer in Japan, siguro yung katulad ko na naging entertainer na halos nalibot na
experience.I think we entertainers, proffes ional or non-proffesional are one of the pride
of the Philippines.Yun lang...sorry,run-out of words..

Filipino alone all legal status no overstays is 800 in tokushima.
