This is a really good book by Rick Warren that focuses on discovering life, who we are and what we are here for on earth.....basically learning the truth through Christ.

It's in Christ that we find out who we are and
what we are living for. Long before we first
heard of Christ....He had His eye on us, had
designs on us for glorious living, part of the
overall purpose He is working out in everything
and everyone. Ephesians 1:11 (Msg)

it's nice to ponder once in a while; what is my purpose here. am i the seed that drifts endlessly in the wind? am i the seed that settles on the ground and becomes a plant? am i the seed that settles to the ground only to wither and die?

so, which seed have you become?

Hi all, I share your views. Here's the summary for the others to see and hopefully it will entice them to read the book as well:

The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren

1) It All Starts with God

"Everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him." You were made by God and for God - and until you understand that, life will never make sense.
It's not about you. Focusing on ourselves will never reveal our life's purpose. 2) You Are Not an Accident

"I am your Creator. You were in my care even before you were born." Long before you were conceived by your parents, you were conceived in the mind of God.
Nothing in your life is arbitrary. It's all for a purpose. He has a reason for everything he creates. 3) What Drives Your Life?

Everyone's life is driven by something (guilt, resentment and anger, fear, materialism, need for approval). Nothing matters more than knowing God's purposes for your life, and nothing can compensate for not knowing them. Living on purpose is the path to peace.
If you want your life to have impact, focus it!
You weren't put on earth to be remembered. You were put here to prepare for eternity. 4) Made to Last Forever

This life is not all there is. There is more to life than just here and now. This life is preparation for the next. "This world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever."
When you live in light of eternity, your values change. 5) Seeing Life from God's View

The way you see your life shapes your life.
Character is both developed and revealed by tests, and all of life is a test.
The more God gives you, the more responsible he expects you to be.
Life is a test and a trust.
"Unless you are faithful in small matters, you won't be faithful in large ones." 6) Life Is a Temporary Assignment

Your identity is in eternity, and your homeland is heaven.
Earth is not our final home; we were created for something much better.
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 7) The Reason for Everything

It's all for him. Living for God's glory is the greatest achievement we can accomplish with our lives.
When anything in creation fulfills its purpose, it brings glory to God.
Jesus will give you everything you need to live for him.
"For everything comes from God alone. Everything lives by his power, and everything is for his glory."
We bring God glory by loving others, becoming like Christ, serving others, telling others about him. 8) Planned for God's Pleasure

Anything you do that brings pleasure to God is an act of worship. 9) What Makes God Smile?

The smile of God is the goal of your life. God smiles when I trust him.
What God wants most from you is a relationship.
Trusting God completely means having faith that he knows what is best for your life.
God enjoys watching every detail of your life.
"The Lord is pleased with those who worship him and trust his love."
God smiles when we love him supremely, obey him wholeheartedly, praise and thank him continually, when we use our abilities. 10) The Heart of Worship

The heart of worship is surrender. Offering yourself to God is what worship is all about.
Surrender is best demonstrated in obedience and trust.
"Surrender your whole being to him to be used for righteous purposes." 11) Becoming Best Friends with God

God wants to be your best friend.
Knowing and loving God is our greatest privilege, and being known and loved is God's greatest pleasure.
Everything you do can be "spending time with God" if he is invited to be a part of it and you stay aware of his presence.
"Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence him."
Through constant conversation, continual meditation 12) Developing Your Friendship with God

You are as close to God as you choose to be.
God doesn't expect you to be perfect, but he does insist on complete honesty.
Bitterness is the greatest barrier to friendship with God.
The more you become God's friend, the more you will care about the things he cares about. 13) Worship That Pleases God

God wants all of you. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength."
God-pleasing worship is deeply emotional and deeply doctrinal. We use both our hearts and our heads. 14) When God Seems Distant

God is real, no matter how you feel.
When you feel abandoned by God yet continue to trust him, you worship him in the deepest way. "For God has said, ' I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.'"
Tell God exactly how you feel.
Focus on who God is - his unchanging nature
Trust God to keep his promises.
Remember what God has already done for you.
