"Michelin Tweel: another puncture-proof, retreadable solution. The name “Tweel”’ is the contraction in English of “tire” and “wheel”. It’s a non-pneumatic (or airless) wheel, made up of a rubber tread bonded to the hub through flexible spokes. Rather than a wheel plus a tire, we now have a single product─ the Tweel.
Mounting and removal operations will thus be simpler. To start with, Tweels could be fitted on vehicles with small wheels, such as wheelchairs, thus substantially improving the mobility of disabled people. As the Tweel is extremely resistant, we are working on a range of other applications including smaller earthmover and military vehicles."

but isn't it self-explanatory? :p
non = not existent...the absence of :p
pneumatic = related to or using air :p
so non-pneumatic = walang hangin
sus, nangungulet ka lang eh :p

kung maputik po ang daan (yung ngayong daan or yung dating daan? :p), the spokes, by design are supposed to blend/bend with the terrain (as shown sa pics). i guess mud wouldn't be much of a problem. muck would be a different thing though.
am honored you posted, nanggugulo lang naman po ako eh :p
@sensei, not sure if they have a different sets of treads for snow covered roads/streets (i'm sure they have...A/T treads included)
