In a nutshell, the Banko Sentral ng Pinoy:) is telling us that for the period Jan to Sept 2003, the total amount of remittance increased by 5.1% compared the same period the previous year, while the number of OFWs decreased by 5.6%. One reason can be attributed to the increase of OFWs getting higher paying jobs at medical institutions etc. On the other hand, as trained medical related workers continue to go abroad, this would spell a problem for the country's medical system and a shortage of (medicaly trained) human resource.

1. Overseas Philippine human worker (OFW): As for the number of employees it is in decrease tendency as for amount of remittance increase, overseas outflow of the nursing teacher who on the one hand, continues
BSP (the Philippine central bank) according to announcement, 2003 1 - September OFW (the overseas Philippine human worker) from amount of remittance 56 hundred million 6300 ten thousand dollars was 5.1% increase of as compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, but it was restricted to 66 ten thousand 9419 of 5.6% decrease at as compared with the corresponding period of the previous year concerning the number of OFW employees. Medical-related job and office work job etc. of the nursing teacher and the nursing loyal retainer etc., increase of the number of overland based workers who are engaged to the service whose wages are high relatively has had an influence on the rise of amount of remittance,, but overseas outflow of the nursing teacher continues, the crisis of lack of talent and the medical system in the country feels concern.
Philippine OFW (the overseas migrant worker) from remittance, saying that the Philippine domestic economy is supported, is not overstatement. The Iraqi war and new model pneumonia (SARS) and the like from 2003 January which receives influence the number of September OFW employees was restricted to 66 ten thousand 9419 of 5.6% decrease at as compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. That contrast, as for the amount of remittance from OFW there is a rise tendency. BSP (the Philippine central bank) according to announcement, from 2003 January September OFW amount of remittance was 56 hundred million 6300 ten thousand dollars with 5.1% increase of as compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. This the nursing teacher (general term of the nurse nursing loyal retainer) and makes the for the sake of the number of overland based workers who are engaged to the job whose the nursing loyal retainer and office work job etc. wages are high relatively has increased.
Most of remittance is from the American & Saudi Arabian & Japanese & English & Hong Kong & Singaporean United Arab Emirates Italy & Kuwait & Taiwan, but the fact that the remittance from especially Asia is an increase tendency is feature of recent years. With economic growth after the eighties, there is the movement of Asia such as Singapore and Hong Kong and Taiwan which are finished to step on in introduction of foreign labor force NIES in the background.
Insufficiency of the nursing teacher in and the Philippine country such has become one social problem. POEA (overseas employment agency) according to, to today approximately 30 ten thousand Philippine human nursing teachers work in the foreign country. In 2001 1 ten thousand 3536 nursing teachers work in the countries of 131, at 2003 at just August period, 7855 nursing teachers seek the job in the foreign country from January and have gone away from the country.
Why the nursing teachers aiming toward the foreign country? Trick of treatment of domestic nursing teacher such as wages exists low there. For example, allowance of 2 weeks in Canada (includes various treatments), the Philippine domestic nursing teacher is suitable to the allowance almost of 1 year. In case of the nursing teacher of the carrier of 2 and 3 years, if it is America, in 1 day it reaches 144 - 360 dollars, but in the Philippine country at January it reaches 120 - 198 dollars. The salary of the nursing teacher who works in the foreign country is said average 3000 - 4000 dollars, but in the Philippine urban district they are average 169 dollars. In the district furthermore it is low, as for allowance of the nursing teacher of ビサヤ district it says that they are month 72 - 90 dollars.
Not only wages, also harsness of the employment environment has made their eyes the foreign country direct. In the Philippine country most nursing teachers, have assigned the care of the patient 100 or more with 1 shift. This exceeds 15 people where 1 nursing teacher with 1 shift makes ideal to watching る much. On the one hand, often it becomes 36 hour duties reaching up to study medicine, also average monthly income for 300 - 800 dollars, by comparison with the salary of the American and Europe nursing teacher considerably is low. From trick of this kind of employment environment, also the doctor who seeks the job in the foreign country has increased. In the doctor, you enter into the nursing school for the American work visa acquisition, you say that the person who acquires the qualification of the nursing teacher anew it is. According to POEA, the 20% of the doctors of ビコール district, obtained the job in the foreign country to be, has turned to the nursing teacher for the sake of.
Among the advanced nation where little child conversion advancing age advances, the young people whom and it tries probably to be engaged to the professionals, mentally with work, danger such as HIV infection nursing teacher of being adjacent heavily physical are few. Insufficiency of such nursing teacher in advanced countries, the movement which it tries probably to supply with the immigration nursing teacher from the foreign country is remarkable. When in the United States 2 ten thousand nursing teachers every year become necessary the approximately 1 ten thousand people, reaching up to English & Ireland & Holland and other Europe countries, each government has announced.
Answering to the demand for such advanced nation, you can call that the Philippine human nursing teachers cross to the foreign country, that result it has contributed to the economy of the home country. But, when it goes this way, it faces the problem, in the Philippine country lack of talent of the nursing teacher in the near future. In especially district, seeking the wages which are higher than local end as for the nursing teachers, you aim toward the urban district first. And from the urban district, furthermore high wages seeking good condition, it goes to overseas. In the district the nursing teacher adds non- always, the vicious circle that is caused furthermore employment environment deteriorates because of that.
Overseas outflow of this kind of nursing teacher and the doctor, assuming that there is a possibility of trapping the Philippine medical system itself to crisis circumstance not to be restricted to mere lack of talent problem, PNA (the Philippine nursing teacher association), insists the improvement of treatment of the nursing teacher. Also government has pointed out in the same way, ギンゴナ vice-president explains "the necessity of the second look at the system which is due to government main leadership" and ダイリット hygienic phase must take a second look the current nursing teacher education rearing system, assuming that, the first step the opinion that "it is pulling up the pay level of the domestic nursing teacher", was expressed. You say that as for in-phase, "insufficiency of domestic economic conditions and the job opportunity" is problem, in order even a little to be able to stack workplace experience quickly, in order to hasten the rearing process of the nursing teacher, is the intention which modifies the present system.
In the Philippines the nursing teacher year 1 ten thousand or more is produced newly, but it makes several hundred people that you work on the country among those. But, it does not mean that equal to number is problem. The experience rich veteran nursing teacher and the excellent nursing teachers, seeking the employment environment where in the foreign country is better, going away from the country, the generally known "second-class" nursing teacher being left on the country, and simultaneously, means the insufficiency of the talent who should bear rearing the nursing teacher. The present way it is the school abnormal play of nursing teacher training, if only it increases, as for the quality it does not improve. The excellent leader rearing person is necessary even in order to grow the nursing teacher who a high-level technology has higher ability. In order for they to be restricted on the country, in order for it to be possible, furthermore, the excellent talent who appears to one time foreign country, only relief doing to be as an leader and to feel and to return to the country improvement of employment environment of the domestic nursing teacher probably is necessary.
It is said that the nursing teacher of the Philippine person "feeling is deep, from the merit that disposition is good, is also a technology, works self-sacrifice", likes in the foreign country, but it is not the case that is not problem at all in environment of the settlement. Of course, wages are considerably higher than the Philippine country, but low also wages with dispensary duty and coercion of long haul work are reported. You say there that the foreign nursing teacher "two class citizens" the treatment problem which is handled exists. In addition the American employment agent who recently, has not been registered to POEA formally puts out announcement to the newspaper and the like, assuming that also technology assessment and test etc. have gone to illegality, not only mediation of work it calls note with POEA vis-a-vis the nursing teacher who searches the job opportunity in the United States. You cannot ignore either the treatment problem in environment and the settlement which surround this kind of overseas worker under any condition.
While globalization advances, not only the person who is engaged to the service whose wages such as professionals and office work job of medical field of nursing teacher and nursing loyal retainer etc. are high, also the simple worker including, the Philippine overseas worker in the future probably will keep increasing. Certainly as for the Philippine domestic economy, the place where it depends remittance from on their is large. But, for establishing the economic social system which does not shake the home country, you can call topic that it exists still mainly.

thanks to you guys! (for the translation .....:D and for your being one of the OFWs!)
Kudos to all of you! The remittances of the OFWs really helps propel the Philippine economy!
@striver-san, added info lang po...do u know that from that 2003 stats that you posted, the growth of OFW remittances surged to 12.8% in 2004 then to 25% in 2005! Kaya nga the BSP supports the idea of putting up a bank that would cater to the needs of OFWs...
hoping to join the wagon soon!:D

Thanks for sharing this, Striver.
Parang iyung statement na "Kabayang OFW, saludo ako sa iyo"... di appropriate sa totoong nangyayaring pagsaludo sa mga OFW. Collective remittance amount at annual increase, malaki talaga at lumalaki talaga.
Isa pang side ng analysis... collective amount of remittances is really big but still there's no empowerment tool for OFWs.

Thanks for the link, Striver.
On one hand, money remittance to the Philippines keep our country afloat. But on the other hand, this same influx of money breeds dependence on remittance from abroad, not only for the whole Philippine economy in general, but also for the individual Filipinos who depend on their relatives (mostly siblings or parents or children) for sustenance. I believe there was a discussion of this before somewhere.

This is more of a tendency / clear trend now.
Migration has brought forth a remittance-shaped economy and varied social costs.
Can we actually backtrack?
