You can also visit the museum and the floating pavilion. If you're interested please inform me of your postal address and I'll mail the tickets. The tickets are valid until September 4.

You may have a point there. Plus the fact that we live near Doho Park (and a swimming pool).
But you could use it (the ticket) as a reason to use Tsukuba Express http://www.mir.co.jp/english_guide.pdf, which will be opening tomorrow. It'll take you 79 minutes to reach the museum.
In case you're interested, you might want to add pictures of railroad/train buffs to your photo collection. Last saturday, I went to Tsukuba station to ask at the ticket office for a new commutation pass, and 4 people are already queuing outside the station to catch the first train tomorrow.
