i've been wanting to study a second language before & the first that came to my mind is nipongo. perhaps it's because of my exposure to the language since most of my brothers studied the language (though they forgot already due to lack of practice) and i worked with a japanese company too. i studied the language for quite sometime but i forgot it as well since i transferred to another company.
my desire to study it again resurfaced recently.... primarily because of my honey! :D he speaks nipongo fluently! inggit ako so i went back to studying the language.... anyway, it will also help me dealing with my japanese clients.
& i've always liked japan too...the culture (except the work aspect :D )... the food.... the people....though maybe not all japanese are nice, but so far all those i met are pretty nice! :)

I arrived here July of last year and my desire to study Nihonggo was overwhelming. Along the way, I lost interest partly because some more important things preoccupied my time. Besides, my work does not require me to speak the language. Also, I am not a student nor do I have any relatives who live here.
Now, that passion is starting to rekindle but it's not due to the above reasons you mentioned. I want to learn the language so I'll get by. It's so frustrating to ask where or how much or what time the shop closes in broken English just so the locals could comprehend even a tinge of the idea you'd like to convey.
