View Full Version : Kanji-A-Day
http://www.timog.com/gallery/files/7/logo.jpgHullo everyone.:)
I just got this link from a Thai friend who will be taking the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (日本語能力試験) about a website that practices you on remembering kanjis and Japanese vocabularies. The website is called Kanji-A-Day (http://kanji-a-day.com/index.php). Just like the name says, it will give you one Kanji everyday for you to memorize.
If one kanji is not enough, just click on the kanji and it will give you lots of compound words. From there, you'd see compounded kanji words, and some of which you don't know so much. Just click on the kanji you are not familiar with and it will bring out the information of the chosen kanji instead. If you are familiar with all the kanjis listed then it means that you don't need this website anymore.
There are some practice tests there but it's only for Level 4 and Level 3 students of Japanese language. For more advance students, these practice tests are too easy. However, they could still take advantage of the Kanji lists, their meanings, their compounds, and their readings.
5534
There are also other features, such as looking up words in their dictionary using either かな or romaji, but it's not functioning well on my browser. Maybe windows users will have more luck with this website. You have to register first, to be able to use all of its features.
Overall, this website is advisable for beginners to intermediate learners of Japanese.
Good luck guys, and happy learning.:)

hello! yeah! i've seen this site, kakahanap ko ng japanese-english dictionary! i-share ko sana but i've been busy for the past few weeks! nice one, dcat for posting this! :)
for those na nasa bahay lang, it's really a very good site to learn kanji! as for me, medyo di ko muna to pinapansin coz i'm attending a nipongo class na meron din kanji lessons & writing! baka sa dami ng inaaral ko eh, lalo kong di matuto!
pa-OT po konti, dcat-san, just wanna share this strategy na ginagawa ko so i can remember the kanji fast. everytime meron ako idle time, like pag nasa kaigi & i'm not the one talking or presenting, or pag gohan-time, basta yung tipong nakaupo lang ako, i practice kanji writing sa kahit anong pwedeng masulatan. for example, pag kumakain, i use the tissue paper. so lagi akong may dalang pen wherever i go. :D so pag meron bagong sets of kanji na bigay yung sensei ko, yan ang ginagawa ko. then, once i memorized the new sets, balikan ko yung mga dati & i-combine dun sa bago. so far, i know 40 kanjis already.
minsan, i try to find the rationale for the strokes para mas madaling tandaan.
learning kanji can really be fun! :D

Am gratified with your knowledge generosity:)

Hello,
I'm the new owner of www.Kanji-A-Day.com (http://www.kanji-a-day.com). I'm looking for ways that I can improve the site. I see that it looks like I need to get some quizzes set up for JLPT 1 and 2 test takers. Are there any other recommendations? I'm thinking about making some files for flash cards for the various JLPT levels that can be printed out for studying. Any other recommendations for improving the site? Your feedback and support is appreciated.

Hi KanjiADay owner! :)
Thank you for visiting us at TF and we are grateful that you are looking for ways to even make your site more useful for Japanese language students. For me, I think it is highly imperative that the vocabulary words listed at your website be used in a sentence or two. Most of the time, getting the English meaning of a word is not enough for language learners, they also need to know how it is used in ordinary sentences to get a good grasp of its context and to be much easier to remember.
Of course we think that this will take considerable time to make, and maybe this is even outside of your improvement plans. So, we offer our grartitude and support for any improvements that materialize in the future.
KanjiADay主さん、頑張ってね、T Fの皆さんは応援しているから。 :thumb:
これからもよろしくお願いしま す。

Hi Firipinjin! :)
As ever, you are knowledgeable when it comes to net resources. I checked the website you listed, and except for the not-so-clean settings, I think it is equally very useful website. I hope other TF members would take a look as well.

hullo hayaren, thank you for your kind words. :)
keep pushing yourself, all hardwork will be compensated.

thank you loveMarch8! :) Good luck with your studies, hope you will come to like Japan, its culture, and its language, as i do.

hullo greatbarrier :) you are a good student. i've known students with such enthusiasm in learning languages before, they improved so much in such a short time that catching up is close to impossibility. your learning strategy might not be useful to everyone with different learning styles, but at least reading your post they'd get the idea on how a good student works.
keep it up, but don't stress yourself too much - sometimes it's nice to really taste the food we are eating.;)
