Hi everyone,

Tanong ko lang po regarding sa opisina, I am working in a japanese company. paano po ako magoopose sa ideas towards sa isang japanese lalong lalo na sa boss ko. Medyo demanding po kc ako. Halimbawa we are talking about sa programming sa computer and I dont like his idea is it okay directly that I really dont like his idea and I have new idea. Anu po ba usually ang mga traits ng isang boss na japanese? I notice especially mga lalaki, ang laki ng influencial nila sa hierarchy halos lahat lalaki ang boss.

Hope you can give me tips how to relate them. Thank you!

I think you need to get over that trait of being demanding (being reasonable is best) lalo na sa iyong boss. The best way and what I find effective - is to refrain from directly opposing an idea - doing so will alienate your peers/boss and at the same time make him lose face. A big no no if you want to succeed in the corporate hierarchy. You may want to praise him for the idea but at the same time propose another approach (your own idea) but make sure to highlight what makes it a much better direction. Sometimes - bosses give impossible sounding advices but in reality they are effective a hundred fold. Sometimes especially in Japan, you must not underestimate position. In most companies - position means exceptional experience.

Goodluck.

I've occasionally had a friend who demands during payday and not from work ..baliktad kayo .:D
Situations like this are always a case of holding your breath .. I guess just tune out the negativity ....learn to communicate well and bend a little if you can. keep your chin up,your attitude cheerful and professional and focus on doing your best. This may actually be a good learning experience for you as the above abilities will come in hardly throughout your life. Good Luck!:)

reading your post make me think that we have almost the same working environment here in japan. so your problem is how you will present your idea to your boss? in my experience here, when im presenting any idea to my japanese boss i always have my support documents. on the spot explanation because something triggers you or you think of a better idea about the problem being disscuss is actually hard to do. why? the big reason here is if you are not on the stand or status to do that, di ka nila papansinin. they think that you are way out out of the line especially kung may tao pang iba na present on the meeting or discussion.

now what im doing about this matter kung meron akong naisip na idea during meeting or discussion, i put it in memo, collect some supporting information, and double check the validity of that and i will try to explain it to my boss after the meeting. i will try to convince him and relay my idea the best that i can. if he thinks its good, a hundered percent sure that your idea will be discuss on the next meeting and the credit will be yours. so the idea here is not to go on, stand up and relay your message on the spot. they always say that you must, "立場をみて、空気を読め!" in japanese. you should relay your idea on the right place on the right time and on the right person.

now, if you have idea about any system that you wanted to make and want it to present to your boss, my advise to you is complete the idea first by creating supporting documents. what documents im presenting to my boss when i want to create or develop a system is as follows:

(1)Blue Print Phase
this document will show your system configuration. at this stage, data collection necessary for your system proposal must be all documented. dito ka maraming gagawing araidashi dapat. also, the target time frame of the development of the system, the cost and the delivery. in short QCDS.

(2)Template Phase
in this phase, your documentation must show all functionalities of your proposed system. including its programming period.

(3)Roll-Out Phase
the rool-out phase must show your debugging item list and time frame also. list of item that must be check on your debugging period must all be documented.

its hard to make your idea documented lalo na kung nagiisa ka lang. but this is the only way para makasiguro ka na they will approve your idea. so what im doing is i always get some talk to my japanese buddy in my office to get his opinion. i try to discuss my idea to him first. the whole information about it. try to convince him para meron akong support in time na mablanko ako bigla when im presenting it ot my boss.

goodluck!:)
