mainichiJust over 25 years after Toto Ltd. introduced bottom-washer equipped toilets to the market, two in three Japanese homes now boast of having cleaning commodes. "When I was a kid, we used to hang up a bit of rope next to the toilet and we'd rub our butts up against the rope to clean them after we'd had a poo," the doctor says. "People nowadays have gone too far in their quest for cleanliness."

:D hahaah!:D
Yeah, actually anything done excessively is no good. :D

I think that "washlette syndrome" was an exaggeration. Every TOTO system toilet has it's nozzle cleaning (nozzle souji tsuki) ノズルそうじ付 and 温水 (onsui) warm water adjustment.
Just set 温水 to your desired warmness and of course, sanitize your nozzles once or twice in a week. I think it's about hygiene, not that washlette syndrome:)

OT:
Does anyone know of system washlet, system bath 浴糟 (yokusou), system kitchen (洗面senmen and the like) made in the Philippines? These items are also available in China but definitely no TOTO. Some of our costumers prefer good deals from China, how about introducing Philippine products:confused:

Any idea?

Hi sensei, it’s not about cleaning the nozzles.
It’s about cleaning the B ng P too much, using even hotter water, even stronger splash, and even longer minutes.
Well, frankly speaking, I have such a tendency, but not hot or strong side.
Just long enough to make sure.
Sometimes, when I go to someone’s place, I literally scream to find it too hot and too strong.
Pain in the ass, as the saying goes.

But according to reports, the washlettes contributed in declining the rate of piles. (tubo)
