Thanks for sharing this.
The results are not surprising to me.
I have observed this just by watching the tired faces of young Japanese people here.
The famous declining birth rate is the manifestation of unhappiness.
Materialistic desires and worldly thinking logically prevents them from making children.
Walang pananampalataya, walang pagasa.
As in mentioned in the article, you have to have faith to have hope, to be happy.

to some extent the survey is true. marami nang surveys marking the Japanese as one of the saddest races in the world. suffice it to say, my observation in my ten-year stay in the country upholds these findings. i also did an interview to several Filipinas who had Japanese spouses when i was a member of the catholic ministry in Kyoto, and almost 80% of them had the same answers. they had difficulty in their married life because of the culture, customs and traditions. most of them were unhappy. it was all work for the Japanese spouse. i don't really know if this still rings true nowadays. people change. a country's culture may change in a way by incursion or entrance into the country of western civilization. there are only a few things i would say about the Japanese though...i admire their discipline, their hardwork, and their strong sense of responsibility. failure is taboo. their struggle to obtain success is really hard. call it great, if not impressive!!

Let me speak for the Indian youth, I have come across with them numerous times. They're fun loving kids, stress aside, they have support peer groups, the constant backing of their parents and close knit relatives pops out that happy-go-lucky kind of image in them. Their parents allows them to think and not manipulate them in terms of handling their respective lives. I have contest my Indian colleagues how they were in the time of their growing up years. Majority of them said, only at the age of 22 they start focusing on what they want to establish for themselves in the future. Basically, it's an issue of culture that has loosen up the strings for these kids to have fun and enjoy fleeting youthful years.

I agree....hindi ko sinasabing lahat...pero karamihan kase sa mga Japanese ay syempre gustong magkaroon ng magandang buhay , magandang position sa trabaho o sarili nilang kaisha o Kompanya, in a way pressured sila.....kaya mostly sa kanila puro trabaho ang iniiisip;#1 ito sa priority nila, at minsan hindi sila maayos sa pagbabalance ng trabaho sa personal na buhay o pamilya nila............ haaaaay sana few years later..., maiba naman ang resulta nyang survey na yan...
opinyon ko lang 'to...
