The Night That Was.....

It was an extraordinary night
Of fear, anxiety, and fright
As the wind violently lashed
Shattering and crashing houses,
In a multitude, as I looked aghast.

It was one of those times
That I thought the world would end
Dumbfounded and helpless
I reached out for my dad's hand
Tears flowed, I was left motionless.

Is this the end of the world?
It seemed eternity to wait
For the rain to stop,
And see the sun shining.
Oh my God, I was mumbling....

Oh God are You there?
Can You see us here?
Can You see these people,
Drenched, and left homeless
Have only clothes to wear?

Can You please stop the storm?
Can You spare these people their homes?
Can You please bring back the smile
On my dear dad's face
Even for just a little while?

Now I think You did listen
My home, my family was spared
But not the less-fortunate,
Who lost their homes and died,
Who were drenched with rain,
And soon buried alive.
Who lost their families
And never survived.

I wish soon this memory fades
And sinister pictures erased,
For I no longer wish to go back
To the night that was....

a spur-of-the-moment composition, ruminating and describing one of the most miserable and disheartening sights i have ever seen.....:(

Geminigirl,

Not writing this as to give comfort, neither relieve or cure the pain. For whatever I may say, nothing can change the agony and dismay in such sight.

I also feel very sorry to the event. Yes, the aftermath raised tons of questions,in all direction. Specially to those directly affected, and there's no easy answer.

Only we just have to trust again and even in slow phase, to move on. For no one deserves to be blame, specially the nature. We'll just have to adopt and learn. As they say; " Add to experience". There's so many reason... may we be enlightened...change d for the better.

Just hope that it may also be true for you and all; "That after the (tears) storm, rainbow rise to shine smile in our hearts".

hi geminigirl!

hope everything is fine there! it was really a traumatic experience for the bicolanos! magpapasko pa naman!

i heard the damage was more intense in the island provice of catanduanes! a friend of mine is from catanduanes & she said that typhoons reming & senyang really caused havoc in their place! Trees uprooted and mountains were denuded!

so this year, instead of their usual family reunion, they will hold a gift-giving activity to their neighbors who were extremely affected by the calamity. so naisip din namin instead of our usual party, we will simply donate the funds that we can raise for our supposed to be party to that activity.

anyway, hope you, your family and the rest of bicolanos will still have a joyful christmas and a new year full of hope despite the chaos! :)
