Circumcision 'cuts' HIV infection

Specific cells in the foreskin may be potential targets for HIV infection and also the skin under the foreskin becomes less sensitive and is less likely to bleed reducing risk of infection following circumcision.

If indeed this research in conclusive, the next important question would be, "What kind of circumcision is the most effective in dodging the risk of acquiring AIDS?" since there are many kinds of circumcision. In the Philippines many kids just let somebody vertically slit the upper foreskin of their penis, and call it circumcision. While, some other kind of circumcision cuts away most of the foreskin and then requires stitches. If I am not mistaken with my observation of the above BBC excerpt, the kind of circumcision that might be most effective is the later, and not the one (pukpok) still practiced by many Filipinos.

McBong, slmat dito., di ko alam may ganitong thread pala kyo before. Alam mo me anak akong 10 yrs old na lalaki na nasa pangangalaga ng nanay ko sa pinas, only child din ako, Hiwalay na rin ang parents ko when I was 7 yrs. old, naalala ko pa nga noon sabi ng anak ko, mommy, mommy matigas sya! Pinapatunayan nito na may epekto nga laban sa HIV ang pagpapatuli. Marami yatang pro-circumcision ang natutuwa sa news na ito ah. :p Pero hindi naman ibig sabihin na ang pagpapatuli ang sagot laban sa paglaganap ng HIV. Kung ayaw nating magka ganyan, huwag tayong umasa na dahil tuli tayo ay safe na. 50% daw lower ang chance, eh kung malasin tayo at napasama sa 50% na hindi nakaligtas? :eek: Sabihin pa nating chamba, eh andyan na. Ang da best pa din ay ABC: abstinence, "be faithful", at condom.

So tuli man o supot, mag-ABC na lang tayo mga tsong. Malas mo lang kung through blood transfusion ka makakuha ng sakit...wag naman sana. :O
