This programs will help you work by scanning all of your files and hard drives and then creates a cue report of any problems it finds. Both programs are free to install and operate and will likely solve many of the slow processing problems your computer maybe experiencing. :)

These instructions are for an English Windows XP Home OS. Other Windows variant may not exactly be the same as described here.
You can check your pc's performance, etc with Windows task manager.
From Applications tab you can see the running applications and see if they are the ones you should have.
From Processes tab, you can scroll CPU and see which process is consuming the most percentage of CPU. In normal situations, this process should be System Idle Process.
From Performance tab, you can see the history of PF use. The bigger the PF size, the more disk access is being performed. That could mean you need to add more RAM, or reduce the running applications/processes.
Other settings that I prefer:
Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced Tab
On performance select "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer" OR
"Adjust for Best Performance" -- which ever is not used. If both were not the original settings, try the first one "Let Windows...."
Click Apply
From the same window, select Advanced Tab
Processor scheduling should be Programs
Memory usage should be Programs
Click Apply if there were changes made from the last "Click Apply" action
On the same window, check virtual memory (value used)
Then click change
Select Drive C and check the value of "Paging file size for the selected drive"
If the value is no paging file, that is not good.
I prefer to use the value "System managed size"
Click "Set" if you changed your setting
You can also see the part "Total paging file size for all drives" for the recommended value and compare with the value "Currently allocated". These values should be very close to each other.
Click all "OK" buttons to close the windows. You maybe prompted to restart your pc depending on the changes you've made.
Other than that, for a 40GB HDD, you should have at least 6GB free space (on my personal experience). Having a free space lower than that value really slows down disk i/o performance.
If you would really wanted to investigate further, you could check Event Logs from Administrative tools.
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event viewer
Check Application for any error messages.
Check System for any error or warning messages.
You can double click the log so you can see more details.
Hope this helps.

Have you tried the "disc cleanup" process po ba?:)
Try it...maybe your disc driver or your laptop`s memory is full na...
delete or try
to uninstall those things in your laptop that you don`t need naman po:) then if it still does`nt work, i would recommend you po to bring your laptop in a computer clinic and tell them your problem about your laptop, they`ll soon fix it:) ! I hope this will help you!
Good Luck!

ok po.. itell you the cause...
mostly more programs causes memory to work hard.. i mean pag marami po nkainstall sa PC/LOPTOP.. this would affect the PC's Performance lalo na pag nsa STARTUP [Loaded programs when windows starts]
maybe this could help
CLICK >RUN
TYPE >MSCONFIG
CLICK>STARTUP Tab
UNCHECK> Most of Not Important PROGRAMS to Load when Windows starts..
